Anyone else noticed AR's don't seem as plentiful on gunstore shelves?

Now that Trump is going into the White House, the market is in a total glut now. The S&W Sport II is down to $559 shipped on some websites, was $650 6 months ago.

SportsmansGuide has been sending me e-mails with the Anderson complete carbine for $437 shipped. Ahhhhh, the buyers market!

I just hope all the companies that came into the market during the panics don't simply dry up and blow away, now. A big part of our success as gunowners has been the nearly unprecedented explosion in the shooting/accessories industry. Many good things have come out of it, and it'd be good to keep that train rolling. Back during the AWB and the decade or so before it, innovation in the civilian shooting sports was badly lacking (which led to a dearth of innovation in the professional gun industry as well).

Things seem normal, but after the huge panic, you know in your heart that it is not stable. One day everything is somewhat cheap, the next day all 22lr is gone for three years.

The new normal. I say get what you want now why wait.

There's no rationale behind another panic buying spree, the GOP has the keys to the kingdom and we'll get a conservative justice on the court.

Even if there is another mass casualty event, the GOP won't go after the guns.

Come to California!!! Our bullet button is illegal now. The Modern Sport Rifle will require a fixed magazine.

So what's a good price on the basic Colt 6920 in today's market? I'm looking to buy my first AR, and I figure I should buy something that will hold its value.

Gunwatcher.com is a good place to start, if Bud's has it in-stock, their price is a good reference point.
I'd look for the Colt "OEM" carbine instead so you can put better stock, grip, and hand-guards on it than what comes standard on the 6920.

About $800-900.

This thread was originally posted in Oct 2016 so there might've been a small run on guns before the election. Although I didn't see anything different in my area before or after the election. Most LGS's are still stocked with AR's and other firearms. Even some places have 22lr in stock now. That is a good sign.

I suspect holidays, rock bottom prices, and the fact that lots of people and gun shops buy/sell online now contribute to not as many ARs.

So anybody see parts kits for <$300 yet? I may want to add a beater or two to the stable. Seen pistol kits for about $340.

.

Do you mean Complete kits except the lower?

If you can find them for $340 then that is already a good price. The cheapest AR15 I've built is around $400 without sights. Can't really get any cheaper than that.

...Dicks (just opened) has them in good numbers...

To heck with Dick's. Haven't spend a cent there since they pulled AR's from the shelves a few years ago. Have one just five minutes away and I guarantee I'll never spend a cent there again.

I haven't seen my local Dicks carry ARs or really anything "tactical" whether it's a type of shotgun or a 10/22 since sandy hook. For the record, I generally enjoy deep blued wood stocked guns just as much as a lot of other guys. It's just the principal. Same as I don't support CTD after gouging a few years back on certain products.

Because of that I have the same mentality as CLP, no money from me.

Back to the original subject, none of my local shops have ever been overrun with AR-15s, no matter the political climate. If I'm looking for something relatively specific I go online.

Some of the new Dicks that opened up recently in the Houston area have them. However their prices are a lot higher than the Academys that are usually just across the street.
