I'm wondering if anyone has had real world experience, successful kills, bullet recovery with the Sierra Tournamentmaster FPJ bullets from a handgun. I am primarily considering them for 45 Auto for Black Bear defense, while this caliber is not my first choice I do take it in the woods during the off season (off hunting). This bullet has caught my eye because of its Flat Point which is important for non ricochet and penetration, it's Jacketed for use in polygonal rifling (which my pistols has so I only shoot jacketed), it is also said to be "tough" designed for shooting steel. I don't think it is a BONDED bullet, but maybe in the real world it's OK if the jacket sheds and the lead core still penetrates with slight expansion. If I had to use a 45 on bear I want penetration because I would take only forehead and/or neck shots. I hope I never have to.

I figured some guys on here may have used them on Pigs, I see a lot of mention of recommendations for this applications on other sites but no real follow up on performance...

Probably has something to do with FMJ being illegal for hunting in most states. However pigs aren’t considered game animals, so restrictions don’t apply.

fwiw, I’ve used 200gr .451” 200gr cast SWC loaded In .45/50cal sabots to shoot deer with my .50cal muzzle loader. Over 80gr of Pyrodex, gets ~1,700 fps.
I’ve shot does at 45-50yds. Double lung hits with exit wounds. Deer run 40-50yds pumping blood out both sides, till they drop. 40-50yds.
I would expect the Sierra SWC and truncated Flat-nose bullets to perform similarly...
Shot placement will be paramount. But then it always is...
