A couple questions here about reloading 45 auto

First I see that 45 Auto calls for 0.451" dia jacketed
IS IT OK TO USE 0.452" JACKETED in 45 ACP????

I found this 0.452" Jacketed 200gr in my random reloading supplies today, brand and number unknown. I'm not sure what type it even is considered. Its definitely a flat point jacketed. But is it a soft point? bonded? Hard Cast with a Jacket?

I found it interesting as a candidate for possible Black Bear defense, with the flatpoint, jacketed, and if it is bonded and doesn't expand much it would be a great choice.

I normally don't choose a 45 auto to go in the woods and I don't want this thread to start and argument over that, I am looking for as much info on this bullet as possible and would like to know if 0.452" is OK to run through a HK polygonal rifled barrel. I know they don't recommend NON Jacketed bullets through this type of rifling, I always run jacketed.

I think this bullet is a better choice than Ball, or hollow points, to get deep penetration AND low expansion IF it is bonded.

Thanks in advance.

I think the most important issue is whether there is space within the chamber for the neck to expand. It is well known that pinched case necks increase pressures, sometimes dangerously. But as long as the case neck has clearance to expand, combustion pressures will push the bullet down the tube. Not to say that pressures won't be higher than normal with a bigger bullet, but given a ten thousandth's of an inch difference, I would not be worried. I don't load to max in my handguns and I don't see a reason to.

There is a lot of talk about this bullet on hogs and bears from various calibers when I do a search "FPJ sierra hunting handgun bear"

From what I gather guys are stoking their side arms with the tournamentmaster as self defense and hunting for tough critter that need expansion
