I just got my new 6" a week ago and it's a really gorgeous well made revolver but it's going to make me have to purchase a trigger pull gauge/scale as I could get flamed for saying I think it has a (*relatively speaking to the hype only*) fairly heavy trigger pull in both SA and DA. That said, the action is in fact "buttery smooth" as the hype and most all owners claim. But, it's oddly heavy with (slight mind you) creep/stacking. The most noticeable heaviness is in the SA pull. Oddly after the trigger hits the wall you can visually see and feel it moving the hammer back another .030" or so and then it breaks.
Now without said gauge, I can only subjectively compare to my other SA/DA revolvers (box stock actions) with three being S&W .357s and .44 and one (CZ) Dan Wesson 715 which is very comparable to my new (CZ) Colt Python. So as mentioned this is only my 'opinion based on my experiences and subjective perception' of my other nice quality revolvers. It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that 'my other' Taurus, Charter Arms, etc., revolvers are in a worse class of trigger weight and grungy overall actions don't even compare in this comparison.
So, as I was saying the SA pull weight of all my other four SA/DAs are way perceptibly to just barely lighter in pull than the Python, and the DA pull of all but my SW 629 is perceptibly lighter. It's weird as the smoothness of the Python's action is very smooth, and only the DW 715 comes close to that, but the weight of the (newer "L" version) Python at least my particular unit is noticeably heavier than what I've heard and read in most places.
This is in no way my bashing it, as I waited mostly patiently for nearly 2 years to get it and I'm really happy to have it. It actually doesn't even bother me a little bit but if folks ask how you like it?, how does it compare to this or that?, Hows the trigger, action, etc., I'm only sharing my early experience with it so far. Then like one other member on here, Old Dog I think said, 'I didn't get it to shoot it SA' or the like, and I agree with that as I didn't either. Merely saying for the hype and cost, it seems like the trigger pull could have been better. Ymmv of course.
