So, has anyone taken a deer with the 225 gr TTSX and what was your experience?

I'm planning to develop hunting loads for all our rifles using TTSX bullets (in anticipation of NY banning lead hunting bullets). I've been looking for 185 gr TTSX for my FIL's .338WM but haven't seen any in stock since I started looking nearly a year ago. Now I see that a number of online retailers have the 225 gr TTSX in stock (as of yesterday).

The 225 gr TTSX should be plenty of bullet for even the biggest animals that we would ever hunt with that rifle. In reality >95% of the animals that rifle will ever take will be deer. I'm concerned that the 225 gr TTSX may be designed for animals bigger than deer and not open up on a broadside chest shot (our preference).

They should work just fine in deer. I’ve seen lots of misconceptions about mono bullets, they open just fine on deer sized critters.

Now I can’t remember ever having shot a deer with 225 Gr TTSX but I have shot and seen shot deer with a 270 Gr TTSX and TSX from a .375 H&H and they open just fine.
