I have a Savage Stevens model 86d.anybody know anything about it?

Good, solid old model .22. See if it's grooved to take a scope. IIRC early models weren't but (d) prefix is a later model. Generally very good shooters. Hows the condition and whats the price?

Good condition.the plastic but plate is chipped and has a few small scratches but is otherwise in great condition. I do have a scope on it.

More importantly, how does it shoot?

Most importantly, can you find ammo for it?

Who would have ever thought .22 rimfire ammo would be more scarce than obsolete centerfire cartridges?

I can do 1 inch groups at 50 yds with CCI Minimag 40 grn.

Good deal. I'll bet it would do better with CCI or Federal 40gr standard velocity.

Not bad guns. Be careful of the trigger guard, though; they are made out of the same plastic as the buttplates and Savage did not have a happy time with plastic parts.
