OK, so as the part of the population that tends to be well armed and well prepared, we all know how much we love to talk and debate about preparing for when SHTF. That being said, I thought it would be great if we discussed actual scenarios where the SHTF. I searched this forum and google, but nothing came up, so if you know of better threads elsewhere I'd appreciate it.
Barring that, I wanted to use this thread to discuss real situations around the world where civilization descended into chaos, what weapons real people used, and how well that worked. Afterall, if we're preparing for the unknown, we should at least learn from others' experience.
So off the top of my head, we all know about the 1992 LA riots. The Koreans used "assault rifles" to good effect fending off the mob, though they had many other variety of weaponry. Also Katrina, where the government got really grabby with guns (not sure how that would help our discussion - maybe place an emphasis on concealment?) Anyways, that's my thoughts - feel free to run with it our tell me how bad my google-fu is and point me to an existing discussion!
