I recently got lucky and won some AK ammo on GB for a decent price. I looked for other calibers but didn't find anything that I felt was an acceptable price.

In the past couple weeks, I have seen some auctions that will close without even an opening bid and being relisted. (I was looking at bulk .22lr ammo. No such thing on centerfire ammo yet.) It appears most people willing to pay $50+ for a box of 500 have already done it.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has tried the "contact seller" feature and had any luck by "making an offer" for when it doesn't meet a reserve or get a high enough opening bid?

The same thing goes for auctions for rifles.

Never hurts to try but I would think if they really wanted to sell it at a reasonable price they would list it lower. People who have ammo priced rediculously high don't really care if they sell it or not but would for a stupid amount of money.

I have had people offer me low prices on a couple of items I sold during the panic. I usually just laugh at it since I didn't need the cash. I go on the principal of everything is for sale at the right price!

Why the hate for GB?
It's not gunbroker or even the sellers. It's the buyers. The stupid people that will actualy pay those rediculous prices are the ones that create panics and drive up prices, start panic buys and create shortages. It's the buyers i blame. But then, are folks actualy buying or is the seller running a scam to drive the prices up. Does any one actualy know anyone that has paid those moronic prices for .22 ammo ?

All i'd have to do to creat a panic price situation is have a freind 'buy' something with my own money that i post on gun broker. I pay a small fee for the next person(s) to actualy spend that amount.

I've had the best luck just searching "buy it now's".. Auctions are being run up for just about everything

I was at a live auction here in Nebraska and wacthed two guys bid up about 40rds of .22lr to $9.00. I thought that was pretty silly. Sometimes auctions really surprise me.

A good auction will instill a competitive spirit into the participants. Sometimes it is not the price but the win that becomes the goal. Buyer's remorse sets in later but we don't hear about that. I have had fair luck with the BIN feature. I have also paid an enormous sum for small rifle primers that I could not get anywhere else. They will arrive today at the grand total of $139 for 1000. That does include shipping and hazmat but is still OUTRAGEOUS. So yes, these sales are being made at the horrible prices.

You can ask. The worst the seller can do is say no. If you do make the offer, state that you are willing to pay by check or USPS MO, nothing worse than a low-baller who wants to pay by CC or PP so you eat fees also.

Orrrr someone has better things to do an hour or two AFTER the auction was supposed to end.

I have to ask when a person posts, "I won" or "I scored" in an auction, how did you win or score when you just paid more than any one else on the .www was willing to pay with a computer?

I do have a lot of lake from property in Arizona, want to bid?
