Anyone unholster while sitting?

Heh, there is another thread about what happens when you handle guns in restaurants...complete with video. (hint, it ends with BANG! :what: )

Only time I unholster is when I have to go on campus and meet with a professor, other than that, it stays holstered. Carrying a gun is not supposed to be comfortable, it's supposed to be comforting.

Yeah, that's a nice "saying", but it's very close to being BS. If it's not comfortable to ccw, it's not likely to be there when you need it. I carried a 1911 gm for years, couldn't wait to get a lw Commander, then a Star PD, an Officer's ACP. But all along, I'd frequently pocket carry a hot loaded, locked breech Star 380. Now we have 9mm's that are shorter and lighter than that 380 was. So I no longer have to bother with souping up a 380. Belt guns are a pain in the neck.

Only when I'm driving to or from class... I can't carry on campus, but I can leave it locked in the vehicle, so I have a holster mounted to the console, and I just keep my regular holster on me. Stays on the console on the way, locked up while I'm there, then back to the console on the way back. When I get where I'm going, I just put it on me and go about my day. Not ideal, since I may have to change holsters at some point in the day, but it beats leaving it at home.

The only time I'd unholster is if I'm going some place I have to go but doesn't allow guns.

When sitting and especially driving (the seat belt being an additional obstacle), a front-of-body carry is much more accessible than anywhere behind it.

I have gone to this for most carry these days.

I never do it but he might have a reason too but it not my business.

Well, I'd say that depending on where he was, and where you/yours were, and where it pointed while it was out...it might be your business.

I carry at home. Sometimes when I am sitting at my computer for a long stretch of time, I will remove my firearm and/or holster and place it on my desk to make it a bit more comfortable to lean back in my chair. Outside of the home the only time I remove my firearm is when I go to the backroom, but that is a whole other thread.

Wellllll...

Yes and no.

Obviously their MAY be extenuating circumstances wherein an individual MAY have to unholster under such circumstances as noted by the OP. HOWEVER, I submit to you two things:

1. Such circumstances should ALWAYS be engineered by the individual such that they NEVER occur in such a setting.

2. The moment ANYBODY unholsters in my vicinity, it BECOMES my business by default.

If I wasn't worried people would go nuts over it, I would but I usually do not. It's not too difficult to take it out discreetly but putting it back in is another issue.

So you do, sometimes?

If your edc is not comfortable enough, change it.

If I was unhappy with the idea of having the gun under my thigh while driving, I'd put it IWB, in front ofmy hip, and pull my shirt over it. I do pay attention to where and how I reholster. If someone up high or a camera is looking at you as you reholster, it can cause problems that you certainly don't need. Once again, more points in favor of the pocket auto and pocket holster carry.

Sitting in the truck.
Unholster and put the pistol in to a holster secured between the 60/40 crack in the seat. Works best with a inexpensive holster you can modify to secure the pistol correctly. Velcro is your friend in this project as it adds some stick to.

how does one unholster while seated, surrounded by people without sweeping someone?
and than reholster?

--->stupid, dangerous, irresponsible and depending on how uptight people and the law in your area is, may get you charged with brandishing
and if done where i am, it will get my attention and possibly a response

the umbrella of 'safety' a handgun enjoys while holstered
ceases the instant a hand comes in firm contact with it.

By keeping the muzzle pointed at the floor during the complete procedure.

It's not as difficult as you might think.

Where does the gun go? I was under the impression the topic was leaving it unholstered while seated. Do you have a different holster that hangs on the table to keep it pointed at the floor while it is out?

I don't know, I wasn't there.

Maybe the wife just held it till he returned?
Maybe the wife had another holster in her purse?
Maybe she stuffed it in her thigh high stockings?

Who knows?

I was merely answering this question:

And yes, it can be done with relative ease.

Who knows? Exactly. Who knows...nothing reasonable or realistic comes to mind.

That's why I asked.

I didn't realize you were just making stuff up.
