I've seen one that straps to your wrist.
Anyone use one while just plinking to keep the brass out of the weeds?

Have also seen tripod mount.
Just checking as some people invent and cobble some good stuff that no one thinks of.

???

I've got a brass catcher that straps to the handguard of your gun that covers the ejection port and has a net. I use it when I'm bench shooting and want to reuse my brass, if I'm shooting steel, which I rarely do, I don't use it. I also don't use it if I'm running drills or practicing admin skills like reloading.

It's a nice thing to have if you want the option to easily collect brass.

This is the one I have: Feyachi Brass Shell Catcher, Tactical Cartridge Nylon Mesh Collector Casing Catcher for Rifle Range Shooting https://a.co/d/dEqnooG

It's not great, but it'll do the job. You sometimes need to mess with it to work correctly. I know there are better ones out there

I use to use one at a local indoor range cause if the brass hit the floor you were not allowed to pick it up. The brass became the property of the range. I just could not accept that so i used a catcher until they saw me with it and told me i could not use it. I left the place and have not been back.

I do when I am shooting from one spot. I made a mount that holds my pool net, attached to a tripod.

Just raise it up for pistols.

From a bench, one of those fold up laundry baskets works well, doesn’t take up much space and is cheap. If it’s windy, I set a closed box of ammo inside to hold it down.

Moving around, short grass and a brass retriever is best, a tarp is better than nothing though, at least the brass rolls to the edges…

I've used several and didn't really like any of them. As far as I can tell they are all cheap, clumsy, and no more than moderately effective. I quit when my "brass catcher" box started to resemble my "holster" box, and I'm pretty sure my wife has been using them in the fish pond.

I built one to catch Makarov brass. It’s a sizable contraption that fits on the table at my local range and I get about 95%or better brass recovery. Plus the people right of me aren’t bombarded with brass.

I don’t seem to have any pictures, but it’s less a pool net and more of a wood frame with window screen to deflect brass down to the table.

I use the Graco one because I'm tired of chasing my 10mm brass over into the next county. It uses a 3D printed plastic base that clips to the Pickaninny rail. Unfortunately, the recoil is too much for the plastic base and it cracked making it unusable. The good guys at Graco sent a replacement but alas, it too suffered catastrophic failure. I rigged an aluminum riser and it works much better.

I like the catchers that mounts on the rail instead of the one that velcro to the handguard. When I shoot an AR off the bench I unzip the bottom of the mesh and let the brass fall, I have fewer malfunctions doing that. Shooting pistol from the bench I also use a laundry basket set up or a tarp with a retriever

Caldwell has a nice system that mounts on the rail. Extra mounts are available cheap to leave on multiple guns so you can easily move the brass catcher gun to gun. I have the wrist brass catcher, the "strap-on the gun" brass catcher, and the Caldwell rail-mounted and I like the latter the best.

I hate brass catchers that mount to the gun, handgun or rifle. If I am going to be doing a long range session I might stake out a tarp to catch my empties, but will not run a brass catcher on the gun. The brass is not that valuable.
