Anyone wanna give this a shot?

For a couple of years now, I have been collecting ammunition. It started with just calibers that I owned, and it evolved to collecting as many calibers as I could get my hands on. Most guys at gun shows will let me pick through an old cigar box of ammo and pick a few out for pretty cheap. I don't take it too seriously, it's just a hobby of mine. Well the last time I was at a gun show, I got a decent handful of rounds for pretty cheap, and I identified all but one. I really can't find a definite answer on this one. Anyone who may know, or may be able to point me in the right direction, I'd surely appreciate it. Pics, and measurements are below.

Measurements:
- Bullet Dia.: .262"
- O.A.L: 3.148"
- Case length: 2.161"
- Neck Dia.: .299"
- Base Dia.:.478"
- Rim Dia.: .478"

Markings: It has a quadrant stamping design, with a crown in the top quadrant, the number "1" in the left quadrant, nothing in the right quadrant, and a "K" in the bottom quadrant.
Other notable features: The crimp on the neck is very pronounced, and not circular. It's shaped more like a hexagon around the diameter of the bullet

I think you're right. I found the exact headstamp on a website that says it's from the karlsborg munitions factory, but the bullet doesn't look the same. All the measurements fit though

I agree, it looks like a 6.5 Swede.

I'm also a rookie cartridge collector and my current display is similar to yours. I'm in the process of doing something different. I gained a double door upper cabinet with glass in the doors from a recent kitchen remodel. I cut it down from 12" deep to 4" deep and plan to mount it on the wall in my gun room.

I found a web site that has the same tables online that the Cartridges of the World book has. I'll write down a few measurements and start searching the charts until I get a hit. Once I have a possible name I'll Google it for a picture and description. It seems like the computer is easier to search through than the book, but the book is worth having too.

I started out about like you did. I thought I would get 1 of as many different US cartridges as I could, starting with the ones that I have. Then it expanded to metric and foreign cartridges. Then to different bullets and headstamps. I have had donations from friends, browse gun show tables and even had a few donations from members of other boards that I'm on. I even ask around at gun shops for ammo traded in.

They’re probably right. I was going to say 6.5x54 Schoenour (sp?), just because the Swede is so common. And I also did the metric conversion in my head, and guessing it was in the 53-55mm area.

I really do wish I was more into the cartridge collecting side of this. I inherited a collection of roughly 1000 cartridges. I’ll add to it if I get something that I know isn’t in there. (Like just today I added 10mm from my latest acquisition.) But I don’t go out actively hunting single rounds to add to it. 10mm, .17 Hornet, and .357 Sig are the only 3 I’ve added in the last 20 +/- years. There”s a lot of cartridges introduced in the last 25 years that I could add to it. But like I said, that’s just not where my interest lies. Hopefully this will change. Or at least, maybe 1 of my kids will take an interest in it.
