Over the years I have collected a number of SKB automatic Shotguns. Never have I had one to fail me. I don't beleive that I have seen a forum about the SKB autos, only the O/U's. Anyone else reading this forum with SKB auto experience. All of mine are the old recoil operated type. I never took to the gas operated ones as I never shot one that didn't eventually give trouble. There ain't much to go wrong with the recoil operated guns.

I have the XL 900 in 20 ga that is gas operated. I traded a Rem 1100 for it many years ago. Best trade I ever made. The SKB has never failed to feed, fire, or eject. Great gun.

SKB Auto: Best kept secret in the gun business!

I's glad that someone else like the SKB autos. I have never tried the gas operated SKB's. The recoil jobs work great. I have tried Remington, Winchester, and a gross of other gas operated and find them not so reliable. You really have to keep them clean and the O-rings current or you are in for trouble. My SKB's were made in the early 1960's. One of them has a 4 digit serial number. Never a whimper out of them and I don't clean them often. Just some exterior oiling to keep rust at bay. I use Break Free oil that a friend gave me a case of 25 years ago.
