anyone working on a conversion for a lemat? I just finished installing a kurst conversion on my 1860
and would like to convert my lemat

It could be done

It could be done but its not going to happen. The shotgun barrel would have to remain percussion unless the entire frame was redesigned. A new cylinder would need to be made costing around $500 also slight changes would need to be made to the hammer. With todays better steel it could be done in 44 black powder ctgs. but once they left the factory someone would want to use smokeless. The overall design will handle BP but using the smokeless it is a ticking time bomb and we are not willing to buy some one a new hand, period.

I have heard those same arguments about cartrige conversions for both colts and remingtons. and they seem to work just fine. does anyone else have any input on this?

sltm1, that's a great article and a neat gun, only Hollywood could take a real antique and make it into a stage prop.

Too bad the the writer of the article didn't know his <deleted> from a hole in the ground.
