It is official, we are having an Appleseed in Carrollton, KY.

The details will be available here http://www.rwva.org/yabbse/index.php

Carrollton is @ 50 from both Cincinnati, and Louisville on I-71. There are plenty of hotels, food and firing line space.

Feel free to post questions here, I will do my best to answer, but there will be lots of info at the above site.

Hope to see you there!

ONLY 68 SHOOTING DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE CARROLLTON APPLESEED!:what:

Time to do some dry fire exercises (get those muscles use to the positions), Review Fred's Rifleman's guide, here is a link to some very helpful information http://www.rwva.org/oldsite/, and here is a link to Fred's to get the Rifleman's Guide and AQT targets if you wish http://www.fredsm14stocks.com/

For those in the local area, I will have to "test" the range from time to time, if you have an interest in joining me, PM me with some contact information. As I plan to do some shooting, I will try to contact you.

Information has been added to the Carrollton Kentucky Appleseed link at http://www.rwva.org/yabbse/index.php?topic=1385.0 Hotel information, and directions to the range.

I was just out to the range, mowing and pacing out the line, getting excited:D May have to host several "pre-Appleseed shoots" to get warmed up;)

I hope to see a bunch of new faces there!

Ky Appleseed

Thanks, Funfaler for the announcement.

Best $70.00 and two days one could spend (re)learning the basics of safe and correct Rifle Marksmanship.

Attend this event, and you'll ahve all the tools needed to hit a 4 MOA target out to 500 yards with a rack rifle and surplus ammo.

Imagine what you could do with a hunting rifle or a tuned gun?

This is a "marksmanship training" event that will quailify for purchasing CMP US Mil Surp rifles...and they have some M1Carbines coming, a few (very few) springfields, and some Krag's coming in.

Functional GARAND's are the cats meow, low mag cap state legal (8 rounds max) and a big part of American history.

Take the challenge...come out and keep EVERY shot in a 1" square at 25 meters...

Bring a friend or six, and have a great time celebrating ...

Early American History, Citizenship, and Marksmanship.

Become a Rifleman.

"the 8 ball says 'looking good'"

We will see what happens with this one. If the neighbors don't call the law and we seem to have a good turn out, it could happen.

Let me suggest that those who are interested in more Kentucky shooting, PM me with an e-mail contact. We are thinking that we would like to do something on a regular basis. We have access to a 500 yard range and soon to be two of them. There is a group of us that really enjoy shooting, enjoy long range shooting and have a desire to share it and do some other things as well. We have discussed trying to get some other shooting schools to come in, like Tactical Response, to do a weekend and such. The biggest thing is that we need some assistance and willingness. Lots of talk, but when it comes time to make something happen, cricketts are all that is heard. I have had some help setting up for this shoot, but some of the folks that seemed most excited were AWOL.

I will be discussing this with some of the folks attending this shoot, and if you can not attend this shoot, but are interested, email me.

By the way, this shoot is looking to be a good one. Over 30 campers and over 50 shooters. No records being set, but respectable.

Hope to see a bunch there that we are not expecting.

That sounds like it would be a really good time. I would certainly be interested in more shoots, I'm not much to speak of with a rifle at this point and would like to be in a place where I can learn a lot. Things are absurdly busy for me until summer, but I'd eventually get to go if it were happening that regularly!

Hey All,

Keep an eye on this post, we are working very hard to get a "mini-Appleseed" (a one day course) set up for April 21st, near Bardstown Kentucky. This one should allow for some long range shooting late in the day. Nothing official at this point (sorry), but I wanted to give a heads up. When/if the details are worked out, I will post them here, and start a new thread as well.

This will be along with the follow-up shoot for the "graduates" of the Carrollton shoot, so it will be two shoots going on at the same time, very exciting!

For those that made it to the Carrollton Appleseed, thanks much, you made it worth all the efforts of hosting it and made it a great shoot.

I also got to attend the Carrollton shoot this weekend, and was able to bring along my 15 yo Brother-In-Law who had never really been shooting. There were a lot of great things about this weekend but I think the best part was the 5 hour ride home listening to him excitedly go over everything we had done that weekend and talk about how he wants to come to another one and bring some of his friends. As a matter of fact we are planning to have a small shoot at my house for the young men of our church in 3-4 weeks to get more of them invovled.

The instruction this weekend was top notch and the instructors were unbelieveably patient and understanding. I was actually amazed at what a great group of people were assembled as instructors. Their enthusiasm, sense of humor, and knowledge made the class not only profitable but enjoyable. And did I mention that they are all volunteers? Damon and Lucky Man worked with me quite a bit on Sunday, and I appreciate The Guy spending a lot of time with my bro-in-law on sunday as well. He went from not even being on paper for some of the targets to hitting "redcoats" and 100-200-300 yards by the end of Sunday! Quite an improvement.

Another thing that impressed me was the lack of "posing" and egos at this event. I truthfully expected to see a lot more of this and was surprised by how little of it there was. The people I was lined up beside on both days were helpful, friendly, and everyone just wanted to see those around them improve.

Folks if you have never been to an Appleseed shoot I highly encourage you to go. Even if you are already a great shooter I believe it would be worth going to just to meet the people and see what kind of mission this group called "Appleseed" has. From what I saw there is no pretention, no profit, no goal other than to try to pass on one of our most important American Heritages.

If you were like me and had a strong interest in doing the same thing but didnt know where to start I would encourage you to visit www.rwva.org and join up. I signed up the day after we got back and I am fired up about getting things going in my area.

Thanks again to Funfaler for hosting this event on his farm and to all the folks who worked to make this happen.
