What is the approximate value of a S&W 19-3... S/N 2K38xxx? And when was it made. Finish is about 80%, definitey was a duty gun, a little holster wear, a little rash on the backstrap. Sorry no photos available.

I figure $350-$400?

I just put one in lay away 5 screw, pinned and recessed, some wear around the muzzel from carry, passed the Jim March revolver tests like a champ, really nice condition. I paid $300 out the door at the local pawn shop.

When I hear or see the 80% quote they go down to shooter status real quick. Nothing wrong with shooter grade revolvers but I would say closer to $300.00 at the most.

This would put it about 1971. I would generally agree with Bill B about the finish and value, but just as important is the mechanical condition. Many 80% guns can still be tight and shoot very well. $350-400 would be high unless you could prove some significant history.

Thanks, guys, I don't feel so bad now. Me and a buddy worked out a swap, he wanted a .40 and I had one I haven't shot for 10 years. He's real happy with the trade, but I was afraid he got the short end of the stick... I was just going by what I could see on gunbroker. I'll try to get a few pics up tonight.

This is definitely a shooting grade gun, and the trigger is quite nice, it's clean with no signs of abuse... it'll get some more use for sure.

According to your pictures, that is one of the better looking "80%" 19s I have seen.

Even so, your friend did not get the short end of stick. Your end was just a little longer(IMO).

Blue Book of Gun Values, 28th ed., Fjestad,

"Model 19 .357 Combat Magnum, --80%--$245"

Blue Book is historically low on "street" values....95% is valued@ $300
I also think your gun is better than 80% (without knowing any mechanical details)
