Hi Guys:
Ok, I want to take the cheesy collapsable stock off my AR-10 and put a standard A1 full stock on.
Will an AR-15 standard A1 buttstock assembly work on an AR-10?
I know it will phyiscally fit but I need to know about the spring and buffer.
All I see is stocks for AR-15's

As Zak said - you can use the standard AR15 A1 buffer tube and A1/A2 stock, but you will need a heavier AR10-specific buffer and spring. You cannot use your current AR10 carbine/collapsible spring/buffer in the A1 tube.

Armalite sells the buffer and spring for about thirty bucks, last I checked. Many folk want to swap A1/A2 stocks for a collapsible carbine style stock, so perhaps a swap with someone would be a better alternative to buying the parts outright.

Gotta ask you a question-
Why are you going back to fixed stock? Personal preference-
I am in the opposite position wanting the collapsible stock on mine- Is this a mistake?

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Oldfalguy it is my preference. I think a collapsable on a AR-15 carbine is just fine. However on an AR-10 the collapsable stock is just not the right fit. It makes the rifle feel awkward, unbalanced and it doesn't shoulder very well. I put the Standard A1 stock on it and it has a whole new more solid and aimable feeling.
I know the collapsable stock is now the in thing to do to your AR's but they don't do anything in the way of improving the rifles function or accuracy.
Especially with mine being a 16" ArmaLite SASS.
Thanks for the info. on the stock though. That's what I was kind of figuring about the spring and buffer.
I'll look into it.

I was thinking of this for my AR-10 carbine myself

You can reuse the buffer and spring you already have.
Armalite lists the same p/n for the AR-15 and AR-10 tubes so the tubes should be the same size and it should work.

P.S. For some reason they don't show the foam overtube that comes with it like on this one I put on my AR-10 20"

The ACE Entry stock linked above is a very short stock, mostly intended for people who wanted a shorter stock during the national ban, and to a lesser extent for LE and mil who want a fixed stock but wear body armor. It's not bad in any way, but it's short to the extent that it will feel unnatural and even awkward to most people who are seeking a fixed stock.

I have the standard length ACE tube stock and it's a nice high quality piece, and incidentally about the same length as an A1 rather than A2 type fixed stock.

The carbine stock might indeed be funky on mine which is a 20" I think-
Gotta check that-
I hardly shoot rifles much over past 8 years-
Of course they just built a new 1000 yd range near me now that I have taken up skeet and sporting clays again.
Have a Rem. PSS detachable mag in .308 with 26" barrel and its a bit heavy for climbing into stands for varmints .
Kinda thinking about selling them and getting a real light weight bolt gun like a Kimber 84- Won't use it much either- damn getting old eyes-
