AR-15 .300 AAC barrel selection - need advice

I see Wilson Combat sells .300 AAC barrels with carbine location gas port and with pistol location port. Why would there be a reason for the short pistol length location?

Can someone explain?

If I want to shoot Blackout and Whisper ammo would 1:7 twist rate be thee way to go?

Pistol gas systems are easier to get to run suppressed from what i understand. Again tho no personal experience, all of my 300aac builds were 16" carbines run supersonic.
