I doubt if it was legal but I shot my first centerfire rifle, a Ruger Mini-14, when I was eleven, and pretty much instantly adopted it as my own and started sleeping with it loaded at the foot of my bed.

Hey MarkIVshooter!

How's the half scale holding up? How about the folder? Working on anything new? Let's see some new pictures!

Never got around to finishing the 1/2 scale, just too much else going on with practical things. The other builds are all still running just fine. No new firearms, though; My focus now is on these:

I don't own an AR, never have. I attribute it to my age. AR's didn't really become popular until the 80's and by that time I had a number of bolt action rifles that seemed to do everything I needed. I never ran one in the military either, Garand's were still in use by the Navy in the 60's.

I find bolt guns can be made lighter and are a bit more accurate than AR's in the same price range. They do have some appeal as a modular system however that has carried over to the precision bolt rifle. :D

I've shot my friends Danial Defense and it doesn't flip any switches. I'll stick with bolt rifles. You know the ones they used 100 years ago in the trenches with 1911's.:uhoh:

Yea I went shopping last week for a high end AR. I fondled some of the “high end” guns and was pretty sad. I don’t get how people will buy a Daniels when it comes with a junk trigger still. If I’m gonna pay double what the ones I own cost if expect there to be something obviously superior.

It seems many "high end" ARs have less than terrific triggers. That's why it seems many people put specialty triggers in them, a simple process on the AR rifle. I myself am happy enough with the stock triggers. My cheapo Mossberg MMR has a trigger similar to my Colt M4; both work fine for my purposes.
Most of the "obviously superior" parts in these rifles do seem to be in or on the uppers, for sure....

Yea it’s looking like a name is worth $500 easy. I just don’t get why if your selling AR’s that are supposed to be the premier brand why you wouldn’t do something like the Larue trigger group.
I’m leaning toward a LFA ballistics advantage carbine. I can set it up really nice for around $1000 and get a sub moa guarantee too.

I can buy that and a refurb vortex viper and mounts for around what the DD and a proper trigger would run.

I have a MOA capable 4.6 lb AR that I built for just a touch over $500. Absent scoring some killer deals on parts, you'd be hard pressed to match that with a budget bolt gun unless you have the means to work receivers and barrels. I could most likely make a $400 700ADL or cheap Savage match that, but only because I have the know-how and tens of thousands in equipment and tooling to tear it apart, trim the fat and accurize.

My first AR was a gen-u-wine Colt H-Bar... it had... has... the worst trigger in the safe. I always thought that was sort of odd... it's a Colt, it's supposed to be a target rifle, it was $800 (and this was back in the early '90's, too.) I guess I expected more.

The lowers I have assembled with a trigger parts kit have far better triggers...

Yup shocking a colt and a delton have the same trigger. The bottom bottom guns do hav a less finished trigger. But only takes 10 min to fix.

I'm not a big AR fan but I know you're paying for a lot more than a name. Don't know what model you're looking at or what constitutes a "junk trigger" but some of them come with a Geissele SSA trigger. Besides, if a $100 trigger that takes minutes to drop-in is that much of a hardship, try paying $2000 for a Colt SAA, then $200 for shipping and $200 for an action job.
