This is a question in regards to the .22 conversion kits for the Ar-15. I have a M261 kit and love it to death. It is pretty acurate (2" at 50, and Im shakey) and the mags have a different top than the Cienar mags, so the BlackDog Machine mags are plentiful and IN stock (rather than many of the Cienar ones). For my future reference, can this conversion be used for zeroing in the Ar-15 sights at 25M for a 300M battle sight zero? I understand the difference between meters and yards so that isnt an issue.:D I have a friend who would like to zero two of his newly built ARs but doesnt want to drive 50 miles to the nearest rifle range (our pistol range allows .22 rifles and converted rifles).

What do you all think? Im on the posititive side seeing the distance is so short that the trajectory would mimic .223 at that range.

Thanks all!

It'll get you on paper, but it will only be in the ballpark. You wont be nailing groundhogs using 5.56 at 300m with a zero you set using the .22lr

The .22lr bullet is slightly smaller than the diameter of the .223 barrel, because of this, .22lr bullets will slightly bounce around inside the barrel making it inherently inaccurate.

The bullets also have greatly different trajectories. While I don't have any tables with me, I do know that a .223 Rem will drop to 'zero' at 200 yards while .22lr will have dropped about 40" at 200 yards.
