I have a 308 AK (Zastava M77) that I put an AR 6 position stock on it. Of course no buffer in the buffer tube. The 308 M77 is light and has some recoil that makes it jump a bit when shooting from bench rest. I'm think maybe I can take advantage of the empty buffer tube to accommodate a "recoil damper". Is there something out there or something can be easily made? I could have it filled with lead but I don't want it too heavy!

I have used the dead mule recoil reducer cartridges from MGW in the butt of an old Browning A5 12 gage. They are mercury filled and do reduce kick somewhat.

Major issue would be fit if you are planning to put something like this inside the buffer tube--you would not want something acting like an unrestrained and poorly sized piston in a relatively weak buffer tube. Easiest but more costly fix might be to get a heavier AR stock to mount on the buffer--such as those designed for a AR-10. Think they make some with recoil reduction.
