I have a full CMMG lower, by full I mean it's ready to go. It came with my AR57 upper that I purchased months ago. It also came with a standard sized buffer as the buffer the AR57 upper uses is a bit different so I think I am good to go there.

I just purchased (tonight) this from Bravo USA:

http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/LMT-16-M4-Carbine-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/lmt 16 urg.htm

So I know I need the following:

Handguards ~ Standard size $30 or so
BCG ~ $140 or so
Charging Handle ~ $25 or so

I already have a MI flip up rear sights as well as a Mini ACOG mounted on the AR57 (which i will transfer to the new AR) so I think I am good to go there as well.

It seems to me with the $500 (w/shipping) I paid for the LMT upper and the money I listed above I should come in at around $700 or so. I am not including the price of the lower as it came with the AR57 upper so I am not sure how much to count it as dollarwise.

So $700 and 10 minutes or so and I have a complete AR, is it really that easy? I have owned ARs before and Uncle Sam taught me how to shoot the M16A2 but I have never put an AR together from parts purchased separately so I am unsure if I have everything right. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Nice, I looked at and price the LMT and their gas piston upper before looking around at other uppers. Good luck, Im sure you will love it.
If I remember around $685 complete?
I like the fact that these are appearing available and the prices are dropping.

SHVar,

This isn't a piston upper. LMT's MSRP for them $485, and it's nice to see Bravo selling them for that. Lower would be nice, but at least it's not higher.

Ruggles,

I ordered the same upper, and the UPS man should be dropping it off Monday. You are correct that all you need to turn it into a working upper receiver is a set of handguards, bolt carrier group, charging handle and rear sight (or optic). Installing a standard two piece handguard can be a little tricky, but is a piece of cake if you have a buddy or a handguard tool.

ARs really are that easy.

Thanks for the replies. I do remember the hand guard struggles! Maybe I should go ahead and pick up one of those hand guard tools / wrenches to save myself the grief!

Thanks again.

No kidding, read the responce before you type.
"Nice, I looked at and price the LMT AND their gas piston upper before.."
Oh yes and...
"LMT's MSRP for them $485".
That price does not include bolt carrier assembly, handguards, or charging handle, to get the complete upper with all of this stuff it cost you $685 plus shipping.
I already priced them on the website before I decided to spend a bit more and go with a gas piston upper.
I priced the complete LMT upper with all needed goodies, and a complete LMT gas piston upper with all needed goodies before going elsewhere to different brands.

Yes, it's really that easy. Put the 5.56 buffer back in the buffer tube on your lower. Install handguards, charging handle, and BCG of your choice in upper. Put upper and lower together. AR-15s are great in that way because you really can change everything with few or no tools in a very short amount of time.
