i've had several brands of triggers on my various ARs over the years, including 2-stages by Jewell, compass lake, and rock river, and of course, plenty of stock triggers. because i've had 2-stage triggers fail in matches before (twice), i've kept the stock trigger on my SHTF gun.

so my problem is that my SHTF gun is the one i shoot the most, and as of late, i've been shooting it enough that i've actually started losing feeling in the end of my trigger finger.

anyone else ever had this? after shooting yesterday, it was tingly when i touched the end of it... kind of like pins and needles when your leg "falls asleep". after shooting today, the tip and the pad are just numb.

i don't seem to have this problem when shooting my match triggers, but i think it's because they're so much lighter.

i'm not a gunsmith and i don't even know if weight on the standard AR triggers is adjustable, but assuming it's not, i've got a dilemna here. should i go to a lighter trigger? switch to shooting with my digitus tertius (bird finger)? if i go to a non-standard trigger, which is the most reliable?

In my case it was...carpal tunnel syndrome

What are the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome?

Symptoms usually start gradually, with frequent burning, tingling, or itching numbness in the palm of the hand and the fingers, especially the thumb and the index and middle fingers.

For me, it felt like one of two differnt sensations: absolute total numbeness and or the alternate days it felt like needles (you know, like leg asleep). The best news is, it cleared up on this own. That was unexpected!

Frankly, I hope that it is NOT CTS!

If you're experiencing those symptoms, I think you have a bigger issue than trigger weight. May be something as simple as grip/hand angle to more complex issues dealing with nerves in your hand.

I've got a couple of Jard single-stage triggers that have served me well. But I agree with the consensus so far - you have bigger issues that AR trigger pull weight.

Time to see a doc.

hmm...

thanks a bunch, Doc et al.

i didn't think about that, but now that I am... you could be right. i recently put a vertical foregrip on this AR and it's the only one that has one, and i bend my wrist on the trigger-hand quite a bit more when shooting this gun so that it fairly well matches the angle of my wrist on the VFG. while my match guns obviously have much lighter triggers, i also hold them differently.

maybe i'll remove the VFG and adjust my grip and see if that helps.

thanks again, guys
