I’m considering an AR9 but I want to understand them better before I jump in.
I have a few questions/assumptions/quandaries that I would like to straighten out before I throw money at my want list because truthfully I want a Destroyer Carbine.
Is an AR9 dimensionally different than an AR15? They appear to be shorter receivers typically in the magazine area and are cut usually for Glock mags. This means upper and lower must both be shorter.
Would the AR9 (assuming shorter) be realistically any better than a pinned magwell ar15? I can’t see it being any better other than about an inch shorter OAL and a few ounces of weight.
Are there any gas op 9mm uppers or are they all blowback? I hate blowback. Hate. Despise may also be accurate. Blowback is good for burp-guns but not for my purposes.
Since I have other ar15, would it not make more sense to just build another upper?
