Leatherman's ARC is a "top shelf tool for a niche crowd" is an excellent description in this Forbes article.
Of course, I'm impressed that Forbes has an article about a multitool at all and more impressed it is reasonably well written from our perspective.

The ARC is the closest thing Leatherman has made to unseat the Surge as king of the full size multi-tools. IMHO the thing that would make it really unseat the Surge would be to include the Surge's t-shank saw blade holder instead of the ARC's dedicated saw blade. I have already seen one of the early ARC's already modified to that effect on one of the multi-tool forums. My biggest gripe is the price and I am not afraid to spend money on good tools but the ARC's MSRP is $230 and I am not sure its $70 more tool than the Surge at $150. The ARC is going to be the most expensive multi-tool Leatherman has made outside of some of the limited editions coming out of the Leatherman Garage project. I am still interested and hope to see a lower street price but not holding my breath.

I have 2 Wave (regular, non-plus) that are starting to show their age. Maybe this will be a nice gift for myself at some point. Probably when the price drops some.
