Are Glock "switches" legal?

Thanks JTQ. Obviously illegal, as I suspected. I am surprised that website is available to US viewers, but I don't know enough about web technology to know if a website can be blocked by a particular country. (I thought it could be.)
No.

When there are truly totalitarian countries at work, people get around internet keyword blocks all the time. Tens of thousands of state security folks have this as their full time job in China and it's moderately porous still. In the US? Ha! No. Not even a little. There is no technical or legal method of doing so here, at all. No single gateway that any one org controls that would keep a website from being shown to you if you wanted to see it. Legal challenges to try to get things shut down haven't gone well.

Also as stated: US gun laws don't (with rare exceptions) make transfer or sale of any PARTS regulated at all. Importation can be, which is mostly how they are trying to stop these devices (as they aren't importing legally, but grayhat smuggling, just putting in whole containers or one at a time in small packets and shipping over). Since possession is not clearly unlawful, the most they can are doing to individuals is seizing it for illegal import, but you are not breaking the law (now if you are a Type 08 or 11, you have problems, likely for 01/02 and 07s also, but I am not sure, don't risk it!)

Here is a news story dealing with the subject matter: https://www.jsonline.com/story/news...e-gun-parts-glock-china-feds-say/10468537002/ I have read that some parts are treated as a machine gun for purposes of enforcement.
Noted! I had not seen them do that before.

Up to interpretation, but my impression is that because it is a machine (they are several parts, all must work together to make it do the thing) no one part was clearly the Makes It Full Auto part.

I am now reminded of the DIAS (there are several and some were a couple parts weren't they) and wonder if ATF is going towards a Rule 81-4 thing, and will declare these to be Machine Guns which means all are unregistered MGs and mere possession is a serious felony. Hmmm.

Getting back to Speedo's remark about the G18. I was not aware of that gun. What is its intended purpose or manual of arms. I'm having trouble seeing what gap a full-auto pistol fills.

So if you’re a kid that bought one for his air soft would getting caught with it constitute a felony?

If there happens to be a real Glock in the same house, then yes the ATF can consider that constructive possession and press charges.

The ATF has already classified one single part as being a machine gun. The latest is bump stocks. And yes a DIAS or lightning link by themselves are considered a machine gun. Concerning these Glock switches. It instantly turns a Glock into a machine gun once the switch is installed, No other modifications are needed.

On the opposite end is M16 full auto sears and full auto selector switches. Those can still get one in trouble if possessed with an AR15 at the same time. But by themselves those full auto parts are NOT considered machine guns. The reason for this is that the AR lower must be machined out to M16 specifications and a third pin hole must also be drilled before those parts can be installed and function as a machine gun.

The M-1 Carbine comes to mind. When they came up with a fix to make the M-2 full auto version, it was designed to drop in and convert any existing Carbine to full auto also.

It only takes a few parts to convert, the parts are no problem individually. Combine them together along with possession of a Carbine and you have a legal problem.

If you have friends that have the proper FFL/SOT, you can play with legal ones. I’d trade an SMG for one if any existed that could be transferred on a form 4. They are fun.

By now, any ads you see for them on any website are ATF phishing expeditions for the stupid. Anyone with a 3D printer can easily make one. But play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I'd recommend just going to a range that rents a modded G17 or a G18, shoot a mag or two and you are done. Super stupid, impractical gun, I've shot an 18 and a converted 17, they are probably the most dangerous gun for a beginner or someone not used to shooting a lot to shoot because they have almost uncontrollable muzzle rise. The 17 I shot was in a CAA Roni shoulder stock, much better than just holding one and shooting it FA. Think 1,200 rounds per minute, they rip through a 33 round stick or 50 round Glock drum in about a second. Stupid fun but once you shoot it, you'll be done. Even if they were legal, super impractical.
