Are gun prices going up?

I recently sourced a variety of steel used in electronics in various applications. The price recently went from $13 / lb to $45 / lb. Most important is availability went from 2 weeks to 45 weeks. 1,500 lbs used to be available from one source. Now you have to build the order from a large number of 150 lb. sub-orders. Quality standards? Bwaaaaahaaaaa! <Wipes tears from eyes>

Availability is price.

What is so interesting is this shortage has all the earmarks of being structural.

I know we had a price increase in our pins and anchors in 2004 as steel prices increased. It's only pennies, but when you're talking hundreds and thousands of units, it does make a difference.

On the flip side, tooling and engineering are amortized and most of the guns being produced are mature designs.
