My dad wont ship my remington 1100 instead says he will bring it when he caomes down in few months. Went to sportsmanswarehouse and theuy have thes synthetic stock 12gauge semi stoeger shotguns. Are these any good. I need something to go shoot some turkeys and never even heard of this company

I have a competition combo 12/20ga that I had to send back to Bennelli (parent company) to have fixed. It came back to me with a nice ding in the stock and still FTF. I took it appart and polished all the metal parts that touch each other with a polishing stone. I also trimmed the firing pin return spring a little. I've put about 200 rds through it since I'v efixed it without any trouble. Shot some sporting clays this weekend with it and it performed flawlessly. It is definately a lower end shotgun.

Are you talking about the semi-auto model 2000 or the double barreled guns? You will get mixed reviews on the 2000. Most problems seem to be with the older ones. I had 1 for a while and mine was fine. Sold it because I already had too many guns. Not because of any problems.

Don't know anything about the doubles

I don't hear of too many complaints.

I believe they are imported by Benelli, and are somehow tied to Beretta, as well. I think Benelli handles the customer service for the Stoeger shotguns in the US.

I had a bad experience with a new SxS Stoeger Uplander 12/20 combo. Nice pretty little gun, but it was intermittant on one side shooting 12ga and doubled more than a few times during the first box of shells. The 20 gauge barrel suffered some of the same. I took it back and took another of the same model for a week and it did the same only not quite as bad. I ended up walking away. That was January '07. I am still drawn to the pretty gun when I go to Bass Pro. I just don't want to trust going through it again.

Beretta owns Benelli and Stoeger. I have heard that they do not own Franchi, but are the exclusive US importer of their firearms. The Stoeger M2000 is made in Turkey. For a lot of people that is the kiss of death. I don't see those kinds of generalizations. There is crap made in Italy as well as the good ol' US of A, just like there are many fine products made in both places. I see no reason to think Turkey is any different. I have heard that the barrels for the Stoeger are made by Beretta. I don't know the truth of that. For me, I bought one from Dick's Sporting Goods for $399.00. For the money it has been great. I have around 500 rounds through it and have had no problems. I like its light weight for hunting. The fact that a few people have had a problem here or there shouldn't be surprising for an auto loader in that price range. On the other hand, I have heard lots more positive than negative.

Bottom line: I like mine.

I have a M2000 and really enjoy it, feed it some heavy loads to begin with and then it will cycle anything.

I agree on feeding it heavy loads at first. That is the only problem I had with mine when I first got it.

Shot about 100 heavy loads through it and it performs flawlessly now.

I really like mine, I would buy another one in a heartbeat.
