Are SxS shotguns used by professionals?

You are exactly right.

There is a heck of a lot more that goes into making a quality double.

Two barrels that have to be joined together with solder or induction brazing to shoot in the same place for one thing.
And even the low to medium grade guns require a certain amount of hand labor to fit every part.

Modern pump gun parts fall out of a CNC machine ready to go, and could be put together by a cave man with no training or skills at all.

To quote myself from another thread...

Different mission profiles call for different weapons. Beat cops don't carry the same weapons as SWAT. Regular grunts don't carry the same weapons as special forces. Home owners don't carry the same weapons as any of the above. I fail to see why this is a difficult concept.

Some B-more Narcs use cut down SxS shotguns when they serve warrants, always a busy job there.

I note that they work in groups and have backup rat thar.

If you want to use a double for HD and you practice until it's a body part and not just a tool, fine with me.

The limiting factor that counts is us, not the shotgun.....

That's pretty ironic for all the people moaning about how hard it is to put a Mossberg 500 back together

However, if you fire those two shots, and there are still more attackers, they've probably taken cover.

Just an side note, but in my house, a bad guy might get concealment behind some furniture or something, but there really isn't any serious COVER if I've got a 12ga. Sure the bad guy might hide behind a couch, but as soon as I figure out where he is behind the couch, it's all over. Couch vs. buckshot... couch is gonna win.

Let's all take the time to note that LovesBerr99's post count is 870. Highly appropriate for this thread.

You should know that, with any mechanical device, the process for putting it BACK together is an order of magnitude more difficult than its original assembly was.:D

I never had a problem with it. The interrupter stays in its place even if I tilt it enough to keep the shell stop in its place, and then the trigger mechanism just goes right in.
