OK, time to 'fess up! How many of your guns does your spouse know about?

I have to admit that when I first got the bug I went a litle gun-crazy and bought a few (ok, more than a few) under the radar. I've been trying to get legit by selling some and "buying" some that I already had for special occasions .

Am I the only bad one or do I have company?

I'm guilty... Of course, I got busted. I actually thought the M&P that followed me home could be stashed in the closet for a while. Naturally, the wife decided two days later the closet needed a thorough cleaning.

No option in the poll for me. All my guns are "known", now.

i'm honest. i have to be, because she inventories them about every year.

she almost always wants one like mine, except in stainless, no matter what kind of gun it is.:scrutiny:

well, except for 12 gauges, .308's and .44 mags. maybe i need to stick with those calibers when buying.:D

I am absolutely honest about my purchases with my wife. And I ended up with 3 this week. 1 Sigma40 (bought for my daughter but no can't pay for it), 1 beretta 9000s (heck of a deal could not pass on), and a Taurus 45LC/410 JUDGE (what can I say I just had to have this one.) :D

Define "know":) She is aware of the existence of all of my guns. Probably not aware of all their trips to the gunsmith and all the gadgets that go with them.

I have an ex so I can only add this: The ex and I were going to take our grand daughter shooting, went down to the basement to select the firearms for our outing. I opened a couple of safes, and my ex said "gee you never had this many guns when we were married"! I said "DUUUUUUHHHH!! At least the grand daughter thought it was funny! :D

My wife is not interested in any of my guns. Sometimes I tell her I bought something and show her and she feigns interest, sometimes I don't.

Anyone who isn't honest is simply an idiot. Either a coward or someone who can't seem to figure out how to earn enough to spend on whatever he desires.
A contemptible and craven example of many "modern" American man-wannabes.

I would be ashamed to have to lie about what I purchase.

But then, many live truly wretched lives.

I recently snagged a S&W 4506 for $330 from Summit Gun Broker. Out of our 13-gun collection, it's the only one of which she is unaware.

I'll tell her soon...

WHAT Spouse???

The 'lady' I was married to was a born ant-gunner & was unaware of my premarital weapons - it took her a couple years to get a clue (Yes, I Married a blond:rolleyes:) When she finally figured out what the locked cases were for, she sicced her Mother on me!:cuss: Things started downhill fast after that...:(
But I kept the guns:p She and the In-laws were so paranoid they wouldn't consider getting anything on the settlement to sell.
Honesty is the best policy, but backing down I s NOT!

My wife isn't into guns, doesn't know how many I have (I don't have very many), but does know when I get a new one.

She usually doesn't say anything. Once she said, "why do you need so many guns?" I replied, "why do you need so many shoes?" She blushed, and changed the subject.

Perhaps a little blunt, but true none the less. My wife and I are at the point in life that we pretty much get what we want. In fact, if I come home and tell my wife about a gun I saw and liked, she'll get miffed if I didn't put it on lay-away. She worked overtime and sold back vacation time to get me three different (and quite nice) guns.

This kinda blends in with the "my girl friend's an anti....what should I do?"

I say, dump her sorry butt and find one like mine. If you don't have shared values you don't have a partnership, you're just two people living in the same house.

I am 100% honest, except my memery of the price I paid can be just a bit off at times.

I have a few that my wife doesn't know about, but it's not because I'm trying to hide them from her. I occasionally trade and wind up with other guns, so my collection is always in a state of minor flux. She always knows when I buy one outright, but other than that, she's not interested in guns enough to care.

BTW, she has her CCW and a few guns of her own, so she's definitely not an anti.

(1) Hmmm, she knows that I have lots of guns, but she doesn't really know what they are.

For example, I have a 4" S&W 64 (w/pencil barrel), and a 4" S&W 686. To those who know S&W revolvers, they are very dissimilar. However, she thinks that I own one "silver revolver". It is also amazing that a Ruger Speed-Six 2.75" and a S&W 2.5" 19 look the same to the uninitiated.

Just like she thinks that I own one 1911 (yeah, right, just how similar are a Sistema 1927, a Colt Commander, and an SA Ultra Compact). Also, only one lever action rifle (336, 39A, 1894C, 1892). You get the picture.

The trick is to not pull more than one out of the safe at a time.

(2) Also:

SWMBO: "Is that a new gun?"

Me: "I've had this one for awhile."

SWMBO: "OK"

Note that "awhile" can be anything from 5 minutes to 25 years.

(3) When I die, she will think that I bought all of my guns for under $100 each.

My wife knows about all of my gun purchases but I am scared to tell her how much I spent sometimes!:uhoh:

I tell her about my new purchases like she goes on about some new wood working tool she's gotten or some new type of yarn she is interested in knitting for some project . I have manage to do this enough times now that she just shoos me away after a couple of minutes after her eyes glaze over . See honesty works!
