You know, this is one of my many arguments against gun control that of course the antis don't get.

Maybe I am wrong but, in an environment where all guns are illegal, the easiest gun to make would be a full auto SMG. Look at the Grease Gun. Look at the Sten. Look maybe at the PPsH.

So if you are making black market guns are you going to try to make a repro of a Model 29? Nope. How about a 1911? Nope. How about a HK P7? Nope.

You are going to get some springs, some pipes, a torch, a welder and you are going to craft up a Sten.

This guy did it...so could many many people on this board.

So from that it follows not only "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns". But, in my opinion "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns...and they will all be homemade Sten guns!" Have fun going down town anti folks when the gangstas all have Stens and you got Jack!

I don't know about the full auto being legal. But it is legal to make your own firearms without a license you just can't sell them or act as a business. You get a serial number assigned and it is 100% legal. There are plans you can download for a mac 10 and all you need is a lathe I think.

We can own full-auto guns in Canada, but you need to have a special permit, and you can only have this permit if you had full-auto guns before the 1997 laws, then you now have a special permit that allows you to have and buy full-auto. But if you didn't have full-auto guns registered to your name before 1997, you won't have that kind of permit even if you give 2 billion $ for it, that'll get you straight in jail.

There is a blog somewhere whereby someone built an AR lower out of cutting board plastic. It was functional and legal. As cz85cmbt stated, its perfectly legal to make your own firearm provided a commercial firearm by the same design is legal to own.

Worthless laws made by dimwitted representatives do not shut off the faucet of human ingenuity.

i´d put at least 20yards of string between me and that artefact
before pulling the trigger ....

I believe open bolt guns are far easier to make than closed bolt guns. Do not know about Canada but an open bolt is not welcome in the states.

If you do some more browsing on youtube you will find there are all types of homemade firearms. Ranging from pen guns to pistols to .50 cal rifles. Some of the designs are crude and probably outright dangerous. There are a few other homemade smg's on youtube also.

You may make a home built NON NFA firearm

+1.

The law states that you can manufacture a firearm for personal use, with some identifying mark on it (a Serial number is one example, could also engrave Hello Kitty on the side, and that works too). The other stipulation is that it has to be non NFA, so no home-mad FAs, SBRs, or DDs. Also, since its for personal use only it cannot be sold or transferred to another person. Otherwise you become a manufacturer, and have to go through all the hoops associated with it.

If you look at the brass carefully, you can see he is getting a ton of blowback. Look after the first burst how much powder marking he has on the top round. To me this is an accident waiting to happen. Too much high pressure gas and hot material being blown back into the magazine and receiver.

Don't know about legal, but I'm guessing not. Should it be? I say so, but I'm not willing (read as: stupid enough) to be the test case.
