It has been a busy legislative session at the Capitol and a lot of good things have happened, but we are not done yet! Quite a few bills are still working their way through the process of becoming law and a few remain stuck. It's time to remind our legislators that these bills are important and need to move forward.

HB 2166 is still waiting to be heard by the Senate Rules Committee. The bill would exempt firearms and firearms safety accessories from state and local transaction privilege (sales) taxes. Under current tax law, many goods and services that are necessary and useful for the preservation of life and health are exempt from sales taxes, including prescribed drugs, oxygen, prosthetics and other disability aids, eyeglasses, hearing aids, some foods and fuels, etc., and nothing is more effective in preserving life and health in the face of a deadly threat than a well-trained citizen with a gun.

Your Senator needs to hear from you! It only takes a few mouse clicks to voice your opinion.

If you have not yet contacted your Arizona Senator urging them to move HB 2166, please use the link below to send the e-mail we have prepared for you. You may send it as is or customize it with your own comments.

HB 2316, which would exempt CCW permit holders from prohibitions against carrying a concealed weapon in most public buildings, passed out of its assigned committees but has been STALLED FOR OVER A MONTH waiting for a floor vote in the Senate. We need to let our Senators know that this bill needs to move forward!

HB 2473 is still waiting to be heard by the Senate Rules Committee. The bill would prohibit public entities from entering into a contract with a value of $100,000 or more with a company to acquire or dispose of services, supplies, information technology, or construction unless the contract includes a written certification that the company does not currently, and agrees for the duration of the contract that it will not, discriminate against a firearm entity

SB 1251 would expand the definition of armed robbery to include situations where the perpetrator takes, or attempts to take, a deadly weapon from others at the scene. The bill is awaiting a floor vote in the State House. We need to make sure our Representatives support this bill!

I'm just glad to hear they're working for YOU now!!! :)
LOL....yep, I'm glad WHOEVER fixed the links from those pesky messages of "Oops! An unexpected error has occurred. You can report this error by sending an email to [email protected]....." as now individuals can email their State representatives if they are interested. Hopefully..... ;)

Interesting that I just received an alert email asking "Even if you've already written to them, it's time to pester your legislators AGAIN. This time, the pre-written letters are asking them to pressure their chamber leadership to move the bills forward and to send you, their constituents, a definitive response."

So from those in the know, are the letters different from the previous ones? If so, doesn't it seem that nine days does not give them enough time to act or respond to the first letters? I have no idea how the politics and various Bills work and timeline.....
