By the way, a thread chasing file can be used for checkering with satisfactory results. It's quite refreshing to see Michael doing gun modifications the "old school" way - straight to the business, nothing unnecessary. Guess I'm fed up with the newer tuning trend, where most of the time the most important thing is for the gun to "look cool"...

That's a fine looking Police Positive Special you've got there! Looks good with the 2" barrel and really like those black hard rubber grips!

It can still be cocked- carefully! I'll be getting some checkering files this spring, and then I will either checker or serrate the top of the hammer as was done on the originals.
I have a .45acp S&W 28-2 that Marc Krebs customized back in the late '80s. The hammer is bobbed but you can still cock it. To make it easier to cock and decock he checkered the top of the hammer in a crosshatch pattern and machined the frame at the top of the hammer creating a scooped out area that allows you to get a better purchase on the hammer. It's the only bobbed hammer revolver I've seen with this mod, it's simple but really makes a difference. If you have the equipment to do it or something similar it would be worth the effort if you want to keep it capable of safe single action fire.

BTW, the job you did rounding the corners of the grip frame is outstanding. And, polishing the grips to match the original finish after fitting them is a really nice touch.

I should have also mentioned, as did WC145, that you did a great job of not only rounding off the grip frame but the grips as well! Nicely done sir!

Wow, knife making skills along with custom gun smithing! I don't know about anyone else but I need to see a pic of the finished product with one of you fine knives. Nice job.

I really like that mod- going to need to look into that!
