Police Captain Charles Bloom says Joseph Best, 32, was arrested late Monday morning and charged with firing a gun from a car into a group of children gathered yesterday in Philadelphia's Mantua section.
Police say Best's daughter had been involved in a snowball fight about 2:30 p.m. Sunday between a group of girls from a local church and other girls who live in the neighborhood.

Bloom says the snowball fight escalated into a fistfight and police were called to break up the melee.

About three hours later, police say, Best returned to the scene and fired at least five shots into a group of children playing on a street corner.

The 10-year-old was shot in the head and is in critical but stable condition at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Bloom says Best was arrested in Bensalem Township in Bucks County. Bloom says Best will be charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related charges. Police are still trying to learn the identity of the driver of the car.

I guess this is someone's idea of parenting  :banghead:

Great parent, isn't he. Instead of showing his kid how to resolve things in a mature, adult manner, he resorts to deadly force.

This fellow makes a good poster child for the "It's the thought that counts." school of legal thought. He certainly intended murder - he ought not be penalized for poor shooting. He should be charged with murder.
