I had a customer come in our store today on an info gathering mission. He wanted his daughter to be the first in the neighborhood to have a suppressed AR-15. He was also going to have her pick out her own Duracoat colors for it. The funny part about this situation is the guy's daughter is only 9 yrs old. At least he's raising her right.

Sounds like his little daughter is also going to be getting a new men's set of Callaways for Christmas, too.
LOL! Don't forget the staff bag and a Scotty Cameron handmade.

My son would've LOVED an AR at age 9. A suppressed AR? Oh man, he would've been ecstatic! Why would a daughter similarly excited about shooting be so unlikely?

I dont think it would be that unlikely, I just think it is really cool of that Dad to get his 9 yr old decked out like that color and everything.

my daughter got a suppressed walther p22 for her 10th birthday (2 weeks ago), and i gave her the option of that or an AR15 and she picked the pistol, since she got a custom volquartsen 10/22 for her 8th b-day.

i was looking forward to doing a duracoat job like hso's super-cool AR15

Man... WHY CAN'T I BE IN THAT FAMILY?!?!

Though to my father's credit, he did "complete the transfer" for me this summer on my Saiga... I'm going to pick up a job this summer for conversion parts.

Cool, but it's too bad the suppressor won't really be HERS until she turns 21.
The federal age rules for NFA mirror those for handguns, meaning she can get it from dad (after paying the $200 tax on a Form 4) when she turns 18. :D

That would never happen in Washington, D.C...

True.

By age 9, she already would have received her suppressed SBR, when she was inducted into the local street gang, and nobody would have paid the $200 to Uncle Sam.

I am thinking of one of these for my son's 10th bday next year (probably not suppressed though) He got a new .410 shotgun this year. He has received a gun for his bday each year since he turned 8. I plan to keep the tradition up so by the time he is 18 he has a good collection.

That's a good plan, I'm intending on similar for my boys.

My oldest fired his first rifle at age 6--also an AR-15 (loud variety).

I can see getting one with pink and purple furniture for my daughter in a few years, but she's only 2 now. My son will have to settle for his single shot bolt action for awhile though.

I have to wonder about making real guns look like toys, for children who are too young to comprehend the differences, and consequences. My kids guns weren't cute, and they understood they were able to kill.

Check former discussions in General and you'll find plenty of folks here who's daughters have gotten rifles at 7, 8, 9 or older.

Mine received her purple and pink tiger stripe .22 AR a couple of years ago and received her ultralight custom 10/22 this year. She'll get her pistol for her 10th birthday this summer.

She and taliv's daughter briefly compared rifles and headed out to play at building miniature fairy forts last time we paid a visit.

i've been waiting a couple of months now for hso to build ME an ultralight 10/22...

btw, hso, what does Michaela think about shotguns? for some reason, Anna is totally opposed to them. we spent about 5 minutes watching folks shoot skeet and she had no desire whatsoever. i can't figure it out.
