Article about Chinese standard rifle cartridge

Curious!
Wondering what the realistic expected application or use of such.
I would say "underwater" use. The Russians have a similar rifle to the one in the pic with the handgun, and it looks like the designer of both probably was Russian. They show you a pic of the rounds, which are darts and not bullets.

Weve got so much cool stuff now because kids watched cool movies and and when they grew up, actually made it really happen.

Just look at how Star Trek changed the world! ;)

Wolverines! :p

Hopefully, that movie remains fiction. But lately, it aint looking good.

I know certain teams have used modified .38Super revolvers and Glocks with fluted titanium firing pins for use in underwater disabling the gear boxes/cases of vessels. And range is contact distance.

But these weapons are limited to underwater anti personnel use. The rifle is a single shot repeater! Not something you’d want to counter a U.S. Seal team with….

Hmm, 5.8x42? No doubt this will be hailed as the Next New Thing and far superior to our 5.56x45 "garbage"

After all, that 0.2mm diameter difference and 3mm shorter case will be a world of difference.

PLA fields all manner of oddball rounds. Was not but a few years ago and the 4.8x39 was the "new hotness" in their bullpup rifle which was so well loved it lasted a bare two years in service. PLA is not very monolithic, either. There's the Army. There's also the PLAN Marines. And the PLA Amphibious Force. An Internal Security Army, and a Border/Frontier Army, too. So, there are like six or seven different sets of PRC camo out there.
