Rocker ERIC CLAPTON is a fan of shooting trips in the countryside - because the outings help him bond with like-minded people.
The star is the co-owner of London shop Cordings, a supplier of hunting and fishing supplies, and admits he often indulges in trips to bag game.
And Clapton is adamant he has learnt a lot from his favourite pastime.
He says, "I'm not really that gregarious. And shooting with groups of people up and down the country has taught me a lot about how to get on with my fellow human beings."
The musician recently cleared out his gun cabinet, selling 13 pieces off at auction in Britain.
Clapton insists he had to get rid of the weapons, because he became hooked on collecting them.
He adds, "It is following the same pattern as when I collected guitars - I get obsessed, then engulfed and finally narrow the collection down."

I've been a Clapton fan since the Cream days. I saw them in Baltimore in '68. He's still The MAN in my opinion.
Cool to know he's into guns. Thanks for posting.

Doesnt mean he is pro RKBA. Many celebrties own guns, and love to shoot, but they just don't think the great unwashed masses should have access to them. He very well might be pro-rkba, but he is an elite, own expensive shotguns, and is english like many elites in england that dont want the peons to own guns.

CBSBYTE - "Doesnt mean he is pro RKBA. Many celebrties own guns, and love to shoot, but they just don't think the great unwashed masses should have access to them."

You're 100% correct.

"Doesnt mean he is pro RKBA."

Doesn't mean he isn't. He owns guns. What are your facts?

He headlined a concert in support of fox hunting even though he doesn't fox hunt (you know, on horses.)

"He supports the Alliance's pursuit to scrap the ban on the basis that he doesn't agree with the state's interference with people's private pursuits."

Eric Clapton has agreed to headline a controversial seven-hour concert supporting the Countryside Alliance in its fight to lift the ban on fox hunting in the UK. The hitmaker will join fellow rockers Bryan Ferry, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters and Nick Mason, Roger Daltrey of The Who and Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford at the gig at Highclere Castle in Berkshire this summer.

Clapton's spokesperson confirmed last night, "Eric supports the Countryside Alliance. He doesn't hunt himself, but does enjoy rural pursuits such as fishing and shooting. He supports the Alliance's pursuit to scrap the ban on the basis that he doesn't agree with the state's interference with people's private pursuits."

The ban on fox hunting was imposed by the British government in February, and the concert is expected to face opposition from animal rights activists.

"I shot the Sheriff...but I did not shoot the deputy."

Mr. Slowhand has twitchy trigger finger.
Hey you knew it was coming.

I've always liked his music, but something about him always struck me as an antigun liberal. I may or may not be wrong about the liberal part, but I sure am glad I was wrong about the antigun part.

I saw him in concert in ATL a couple of years ago, he's still one hell of a guitarist (probably always will be) and songwriter. I'd love to see how fast he can work the trigger finger.

John Entwistle, deceased bassist of The Who, was a shooter.

Lot's of 870 fans on here? There's one of John's Wingmasters on sale here by eccentric Elvis fan and gun dealer Mick Shepard for £350 - not too bad for a 'celebrity' gun.

You have to scroll down the page, but any gun lover will enjoy the site for the photography of some very interesting pieces.

I guess the question is he pro 2a?

Clapton is a Brit...no 2nd Amendment

Regardless, the Second Amendment really has little if anything to do with sporting and hunting activities.

I believe he has dual citizenship. He does own a house with his wife here in Columbus. He used to hit the local venues fairly often, but I haven't heard of him appearing anywhere other than the corporate venues lately. If I run into him, I'll be sure to ask, LOL.

He enjoys clay shooting? Not very unusual if you ask me. Lots of upper class British enjoy it.

Does he agree with being able to buy an AR-15 with little or no regulation or carrying a loaded handgun around for protection?

What would your guess be? Mine would have to be no. No he probably doesn't.

in the UK you can own shot guns with less than 3 round magazines on a shotgun license buy a safe not be a criminal and your good to go.
rifles and black powder pistols you need a firearms certificate a lot more involved
procedure.
Majority of British are not keen on the RTKBA not part of our culture and urbanised
