now that the gun ban is over does that now mean that i have no restrictions on how many add ons i can have. can i now have pistol grips ,bayonet lugs, high cap mags, and whatever else i want:scrutiny:

Unless you live in one of the states that still bans such things... why not? It's only money.

The ban has been over for a while, there is still an import ban though on military weapons.

yessss even the bayonet lugs, the most evil of Ar15 features! There are of course some ridiculous state laws in some places, but I am pretty sure Kentucky is free and clear. There may be magazine capacity caps for hunting applications mind you.

It is written right into the sunset provisions of the assault weapons ban that you post pictures on this Forum and be subject to scathing critiscm and ridicule if you make an otherwise handsome and functional gun ugly and useless.

The AWB here in Kali is a royal pain. If we want an military-style autoloading rifle we have to have bullet buttons that make magazine changes a two hand task (instead of one finger) and we are limited to 10 round magazines (which is especially rediculious for full size pistols). Thank God, your legislators, and your fellow state citizens that you have the freedom you do. Many others are not so fortunate.

That said, use your freedom! Get big magazines and beyonets if you feel like it. Hang everything you can attach to a rail. Make the paper targets feel true fear before blasting them into oblivion. Have fun, then have a little extra on behalf of those of us who can't.

Goodness me,when are these fools going to realise, that a gun is a gun,end of Remington 700s & Winchester 70s were used for military purposes,in the early days of the Vietnam war, according to a documentary I watched,on military snipers.
A lever-action rifle was used for combat & sporting purposes,in the days of the west.It was the assault weapon of its day.
This is just ignorant, paranoia, shown by some really nasty anti-gun legislators.
On a different planet I think, like how they are over here,on the British mainland.

Kentucky has a 10 round magazine limit for any rifle used for hunting deer.

We also have a local pre-exemption law that prohibits localities from passing gun laws that are more restrictive than the state laws. That's a good thing for the OP because his profile says he lives in Louisville. I have little doubt that the Louisville/Jefferson County government would pass all sorts of restrictive gun laws if they could.

Yep -- How about the Obama administration theoretically approving the import of M-1 Garands from South Korea back into this country, but rejecting M-1 carbines because they're presumably deadlier...

Not wanting to sound like a nut or something, but I could see something like the old AWB in our future.

Wow, have you been in a coma? The ban's been gone for 11 years and something months. That means all that stuff is not at all regulated. So grab a bayo and but it on your AK.

If Obama gets a second term, I think you can count on a new AWB in our future.
I agree

There are three Supreme Court Justices that are conservative that are IN THEIR late 80s

Another term.......3 new appointees......... We are cooked

Forget a bayonet on an AR or AK. If you let someone get that close to you, you are doing something wrong. They are handy to hold your rifle while you open a beer though..............chris3

I don't see another AWB anything like the 1994 version. AR style rifles were very uncommon then and were easy targets with few owners to upset. Today they are mainstream and one of the biggest sellers. We can actually thank the AWB for making them popular. They sold like hotcakes all during the ban, just with no flash hider, the only thing needed to remove to make them legal.

Even the most hard core gun grappers know the AWB was a failure. What I do see is more of a push for regristration and forcing gun owners to have a permit of some type to own guns. I don't look for gun grabbers to go away, but you better believe they have learned from their mistakes and will try a completely different approach the next time.

Whether in warfare, football, or politics the best plan of attack is to trick your opponent to place his defenses in 1 place and attack from another. Any talk of another AWB is a diversion.
