We don't do strictly political threads here at THR. But perhaps if you explain his record on gun control and his published plans for making right the mess in NY state, we'd have something to talk about.

Well for starters, Steve voted NO to the NYS safe act. He is a 2nd term assemblyman and who truly works for the people. He is a family man with a strong sense of commitment to the constitution of America and a defender of our 2nd amendment rights. He has recently been rated A+ by SCOPE as a defender of our constitution. If you take the time to watch any of his pages of you tube videos. You will see he is not one to be messed with. He does not cave to the liberal/progressive agenda. His heart and voting is always of a conservative level. I believe along with thousands of others, that Steve is the right man for our Governor in 2014.

I first heard of Steve McLaughlin when he exposed the NY Democrats plans for gun confiscation in NY: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn8CSuWSCcg

Some information on his voting record is here: http://unshackleupstate.com/legislative-activity/scorecards/steven-mclaughlin

He has a YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/SteveMcNY and here's some recent radio interviews: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/sherylthomas/2013/08/01/ny-assemblyman-steve-mclauglin-bid-for-governor and http://www.talk1300.com/podcast/Fred-Dicker-Live-from-the-State-Capitol/

With 4 million Gun owners in NY I think we can turn this state around if we get out to vote ...

The first time the 2 posters supporting this guy show up is the same day, 2 days ago. Both with plenty of quotes, video links, and 8x10 glossies.

You guys wouldn't just happen be on his campaign committee, would you? :uhoh:

I have no idea. But it doesn't matter. The real question is, should New York gun owners get behind this candidate or not?

Fuff is right, what matters is whether the Assemblyman is worth supporting and whether he has a snowball's chance in Hell of making it and impact.

Speedo, its a good question, but no I'm not. I've been a long-time lurker on THR, and I have been active against the SAFE act (http://nysaferesolutions.com is my site). Finally registered an account when I saw the request for more info.

Anyways, Fluff is right: is this the guy or not? Frankly I'll probably vote anyone but Cuomo, but I'd much prefer that the GOP candidate be someone solid and not someone picked by Skelos.

There were no shortage of NY Republicans who greased the rails for the SAFE Act. If New Yorkers don't pick their own pro-2A candidate and support him, I am skeptical the establishment is going to do it for them.

Well heck yes... if the breathless endorsement of the OP can be believed....

I mean, and I quote: "He's AWESOME"... OK then! That's enough for me. Let's all rally 'round!

Then again, that was his first post and his second (and so far only) post was on the same subject in the same thread. Then... nothing. Seems with all due respect to be a flash in the pan attempt to leverage social networking... without much other information. If there were sincere support from the second amendment communtity, methinks there would be more discussion from other quarters.

Wondering if the OP isn't the candidate himself. More likely it's a 20-something campaign staffer. I mean, "AWESOME"? Uhh really? <sigh>...... :scrutiny:

Sorry for delay... I have been sick. Have any of you even looked up info on this guy or not?? If you did you would know he is a A+ rated defender of the constitution by S.C.O.P.E..... he also was voted legislator of the year boy NYSR&P for 2013... that in it self tells you he supports our 2A.... but if you take him a step further, you would also see his is for smaller government, less taxes and for the people of NY.. not the "good ol boys club". His stance in January against the NYS safe act put a target on his back by "the establishment"... and he still stands on the side of the people. We want leaders like him. Not leaders who work to line their pockets and those of their friends. Am I wrong????

I have been following Steve Mclaughlin for a while and would definitely support him but I don't even see anything on his official site about running for governor. The site linked looks like something a college kid whipped up?

Would be nice....

I think we would need 100% voter turnout for everyone west of NYC to even stand a remote chance - We are basically screwed by NYC in this stupid state.

Would absolutely love to see a pro-gun politician in this state and his gun stance as reported would be a refreshing change!

McLaughlin's highly rated by S.C.O.P.E. (I'm a S.C.O.P.E. member) and he gave a stirring speech at the 2A rally I attended in Albany June 11th. It's a shame Carl Pallidino didn't get elected last time around but if McLaughlin will be in the race next time I'm gonna support him 100%. Gettting the gun owners to turn out is of the utmost importance.
