i have a astra firecat .25 (mod. 200) made in 1963 in very good shape it has the 3 safetys. now how good are these safetys? i like to carry it with one in the pipe. anyone have any first hand dealings with these? thanks.

Some of the Astras and Stars have inertia firing pins (FP shorter than the channel housing it and able to strike the primer only under the impetus of the hammer, like the 1911). If it's so equipped, I would carry it cocked and locked or hammer down on a loaded chamber. Otherwise, I'd keep it "half-loaded" and cycle on the draw. Neat little guns. Collectors' Firearms in Houston has one for $349. It has stag grips; certainly adds a touch of class to a firearm such as this.
