ATF Form 1 problem

Hi Guys, need help please:

I tried to submit application today for an AF 'Pistol' now SBR. Deadline is May 31.

It seemed to work ok til I got to do the photo. Got a good photo using their 'take photo' option, under 3mb, then hit Add Document. The end. Just the green circle forever. I let it run over an hour.

Tried several times, several different ways, always the same result. This was on an ipad and I also tried an HP laptop. Logged completely out, then back in and started new form each time.

I used the correct version of the eforms app. for registering under the new rule.

Does anyone know what I did wrong?

Is there a paper copyh I can mail in?

I had the same problem. A month ago I asked BATFE if there was a way to register a pistol with a stabilizing brace.
Today they emailed me a copy of a paper form one.
Don't know if this helps or not but it may be worth a try.

Try resizing the photo. 3 MB is a large file. For example, when I post photos here, the size of the image (.jpg) as it comes out of the camera is between 4 and 6 MB. I resize it down to 200 - 500 KB before posting. You can't tell the difference visually.

Have someone take a picture of you with your phone in front of a white wall then edit the photo to fit the specifications. Basically your face has to fill a big portion of the frame, 80% or something like that. I use photo software on my computer to edit and down scale (make smaller file sizes) but there should be plenty of websites online that you can use if your phone doesn't have such software. Then just upload the photo instead of using the ATF's camera widget.

Thanks, guys. The photos are all 1mb or under. I cannot make the website work - hangs, disconnects, restarts, etc. Maybe my internet isn't up to the task, although I have no problems with Facebook, Amazon, Vanguard, Twitter, and all the other usual suspects.

For whatever reason it's unusable and no help from ATF seems available.

I've downloaded the forms (it has a box for this particular rule without tax), and I'll fill them out by hand and submit by mail. Thanks again.

I gave it one more shot yesterday & it worked fine and submitted and accepted. Go figure.

Before that, the Responsible Party section, and the photo section would not work, and random hangs were common.

In the add photo part for anybody interested, ause the photo search and the app finds and displays the photo. At the bottom it shows 'Full Size'. Click on those words and it will offer to resize the image smaller - Large, Medium, or Small. I used the medium it usually was in the 250k range and worked fine. Even though the app says 3mb is ok, I could never get it to work anywhere near that, including as low as 1.4mb.
