ATF is supposed to update their processing times every 90 days per the Office of Management & Budget.
I've sent them at least three emails requesting the reason why they haven't updated since September 30th, 2021. Never received a response.
Today they updated:

Current Processing Times as of June 30, 2022 https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/current-processing-times

Understand this doesn't mean if you file a form today, it will be approved in the time frame as shown.
Depending on the volume of paper forms and eforms submitted the average processing time may be faster or slower.

But, but, but Tom........its supposed to be 90 day approvals for eForms!
ATF never said that. They did state that their goal was 90 day approvals. (its at the end of their Youtube tutorial on eForm 4's)

It's the government..... hurry up and wait.

Im glad to see that they did finally update it. But yes you are correct some will take that 90 day statement to heart and complain when it takes longer than that.

Silencershop also keeps an updated list of wait times based on their customers recent approvals. I think their reported 155 days on e-file form 4's is more in line with what we're seeing locally than the ATF's claim of 100 days.

You have to understand that ATF's information is valid for that reporting period. When that reporting period ended, the average wait time was 100 days for eForm 4's approved in that period. For every 50 day eForm 4, there was a 150 day eForm 4.
I have no doubts that the wait time will be substantially longer the next time ATF chooses to update.

Silencer Shop's wait time tracking information has always been flawed. It either relies on a few customers inputting their wait times or Silencer Shops Full Auto software that doesn't consistently track approvals. The problem with having customers input their wait time is they are invariably inaccurate. They may remember the day they paid, but that isn't the day their form was submitted, not the day "check cashed". At least once a week a customer will say "I've been waiting on this for X months" when they pick up their stamp and silencer. Yet right there on the F4 is my signature and the date it was signed.
The Full Auto software is supposed to track approvals and update the customers account. Since January it does so in about one in ten eForms.

Over the last decade I've found ATF's processing times to be extremely accurate.

That's great. Like I said, for us locally, Silencershop's wait times has been consistent with what we're seeing. Just another option for folks to look at.
