I thought I put an end to this put apparently ATFE is continuing to release misinformation on state gun laws. Today, April 18th, 2007, the Purdue Exponent (student newspaper) ran an article quoting an ATFE agent that claims that Indiana law allows unconcealed carry of a firearm without permit. This is only true as long as the firearm is not a pistol.
Rifle, carbine, shotgun, machine gun is O.K. without a carry license. If you wish to carry a pistol, openly or concealed, you need the little pink card, i.e. our carry license.
I contacted the reporter, Steve Garbacz, and he advised that there were several incorrect statements of law that ATFE gave him that he did not have room to print. Be very careful in reading anything not from an official ATFE source. Their misinformation campaign is continuing. I will attempt to stop it yet again.
Here's the article with several incorrect statements of law and fact: http://www.purdueexponent.org/?module=article&story_id=5466
