That's a nice looking gun, Strawhat! Is that a Uberti ... or another make?
I have a Richards-Mason conv. of the Colt 1851 Navy into a .38. I acquired some Ten-X .38 Long Colt ammo loaded with Black Powder (from Cabela's) and it's a hoot to shoot! You can load .38 SP in it, but I've only used "Cowboy loads" since there's no point in putting anything through it that may stretch the frame or damage it since it's not a gun I'd use for self-defense.
Good shooting there, and keep your powder dry!
Love those colt conversions..I wanted one, but when it came down to it, I bought a Remmie Conversion from Taylors...just to be different when we do our shows..One of our members carries a brace of the .44 Colt's like yours, looks good when he fills both hands...
I have a 45 colt navy on layaway here, and I can't wait to get it out. Been wanting an open top for a loooonnnggg time.
I enjoy shooting my C&B revs more than my cartrige revs, and the open top feels like a C&B when you hold it. I get all excited talking about it. Black powder cartiges should be fun in it.
I couldn't resist putting mine up in a case just for fun.
Mine are Uberti 1872 Open Tops in .44 Colt.
I really wanted Richards Mason Conversions but they weren't making them at the time I bought mine and I don't want to lay out the extra cash now, these shoot just fine.
