IDPA Box
The IDPA Box is 8 3/4" x 6" x 1 5/8" and is designed to "weed out" race guns seen in IPSC competitions as the intent is to use a CCW capable weapon that you would carry everyday. The EAA website lists the gun at 8.1" x 5" x 1.4" which will fit the box. The weapon is available in several calibers and if ammo cost is not a consideration, make your choice with what you prefer. I use a .40 S&W to compete and for CCW in a Beretta 96. When using a course of fire that requires a BUG I have a Stoeger Cougar 8000 that fills the bill. Carried in the small of the back IWB or in a Galco SOB it works well, fits a Beretta 92/96 for the most part. For the IWB, I use a LH holster, even though I am right handed as I can conceal a little better in the small of my back and draw with either hand easily. My fingers go to the inside when RH draw and outside on LH draw. The only restriction I do not like with IDPA is that shoulder holsters are prohibitted, probably with regard to Rule #2 although I carry all winter in a Galco shoulder rig which would allow me to compete with my carry rig of choice. It is understandable though. Take the IDPA and the NRA Course as well and any other you can afford. I can reccommend Frontsight personally. Gunsight is great as well. Good luck and good shooting.
