Vote rigging is a very bad idea - our cause is just and we don't need to lay ourselves open to accusations and having our views discounted because of it.
Here's what I left:
Banning objects instead of punishing and deterring criminal acts is a politician's way of hoodwinking the public into thinking they are tackling crime and protecting the citizens. It serves no other purpose - criminals do not obey laws and will therefore not heed proscribed possession. It is merely a cheap way for politicians to avoid dealing with the real problem whilst claiming undeserved credit.
In the UK (where I am from) ownership of handguns by the citizen has been banned for the last twelve years. The state had the police seize legally held property bought and paid for by honest citizens of exemplary character. Just because it could.
The result? Crimes where handguns are used has risen by 400%. Machine guns have never been legal to own by the citizen - yet they are regularly used by drug dealers and gangs in the UK's cities. Similarly it is illegal to carry lock knifes in the UK - yet it has the highest proportion of stabbings in Europe.
If you think banning an inanimate object that is easy to obtain by a criminal will make you safe and cosy you're deluding yourselves.
Why should a citizen wish to own and shoot an "assault rifle"? Because it's their right and because it's fun. That's the only reason a citizen needs.
I'm aghast at Americans actually going along with paring their rights voluntarily, little by little to satisfy the ego of politicians offering fools gold. If you don't want your written constitution then send it over to the UK. We desperately need protecting from our current corrupt, socialist Government, which actively bans and proscribes legal activity on a daily basis. Civil liberties are a bad joke here. Civil liberties are regularly trampled on. Ancient rights are simply torn up on an ad hoc. State intrusion is on such a massive scale here that Orwell's 1984 looks like a children's bedtime story. Does America REALLY want to become like us? If so then banning the means to protect yourselves (little by little) is the right way to go about it.
