Baby eagle or CZ P01?

P-01. I've never owned a Baby Eagle so I can't comment on them. I do own a few CZ's and plan on getting more. They are great guns.
I put Meprolight night sights on my P-01. It is a great carry gun and also a great house gun since I can attach a light to the frame rail.

I have a full size Baby Eagle and love it, as has everyone else who has tried it. The only reason I chose the Beagle over a CZ was because of availability, the Beagle was cheaper NIB locally than it would have cost to have a CZ shipped. There is a "no +p ammunition" disclaimer about the Beagle which I wasn't aware of until after my purchase, but it doesn't make sense that one of the most robust 9mm pistols on the market won't accept +p ammo.

I have the P-01 and love it and I've shot my friend's Baby Eagle. While it shot well and was quite accurate, it would occassionally lock back the slide during a magazine. It could have been due to a variety of factors, but I'd take the P-01 based on its 100% reliability for me. Both good guns, overall.

I've never shot the CZ, but they do have a very good following.

I do own a Baby Eagle, a full sized 9mm one, and have nothing but good things to say about it. Is the model you are looking at a steel version, or the polymer one?

That's a no-brainer! GET THE CZ P-01!! You will NEVER regret it, and you'll kick yourself for not getting it sooner (and for buying only one)!! :D

And, yes, the P-01 has a decocker, not a manual safety, FYI. I personally prefer a decocker to a manual safety, anyway. Why put one more thing (flipping off the safety) between you and the bad guy? I prefer to just draw & fire.

Oops... way to show my ignorance. Well, it's still frame-mounted... my argument still stands. :p

I would go for the P-01 just because the Beagle would constantly pull your pants down. They weigh a ton.

I'll go for the CZ-PO1. It is lighter, more shootable and has a better finish. What I don't like about the Baby Eagle - heavy and rust prone finish. I also hated their version of a beavertail.

I have 3 slightly different Baby Eagles's in 9mm. 100% reliable, very accurate, fit my small hands very well, I really like the extra weight. Some of the best handguns I have owned (and I have..and have had many).

I also have a CZ40P. Just got this one. Factory hybrid with a 40 upper mounted onto a P01 frame. Took about 20 rounds or so to start feeding reliably and now you can't stop it. Also very accurate and also fits my hand very well. This was an impulse buy and it is obvious to me that CZ does make an extremely well made firearm.

I simply would not want to have to choose between the 2 myself.

For a carry gun in 9mm I'd go for the CZ PCR or RAMI. What I did end up going with is a RAMI in .40 S&W. I love the full dust cover and rails of the Baby Eagle but can't get past the slide mounted safety. It's a differant manual of arms from my other autos and that just bugs me. Otherwise, I'd already have one.

I have had the full size BE and still have the semi-compact, both in 9mm. They are great guns, accurate, reliable, high level of fit and finish. However, given the choice between the BE and P01, I would take the P01 for its ligher weight, shorter height, slide mounted decocker that does not disable the gun, and the fact that it has an NSN (reassuring).

I love my pre-2005 Full Size BE. It out shoots my lightly customized Witness and CZ75B and is 100% reliable. OTOH, I have had the pleasure of shooting a P-01 and WOW! thats a shooter!

Honestly, theyre both excellent guns (the pre-2005 BE that is) and you'll be well served with either.

Good Shooting and Semper Fi!

I have a full size Baby Iggle and love it. CZ makes a great pistol, and the Baby Iggle is a clone of the CZ-75, so I don't see you going wrong with the P-01...
