My first bp was a brass frame navy in the early to mid sixties, followed by a Zouave, Kentucky kit gun. In the following years I leaned toward TCs, now having five including an Encore. The other day, while rummaging around in the gun room, I came across a coffee can full of rusty parts. Flash back, about 30 years ago my shift Sgt. gave me an 1851 navy. He had fired it and not cleaned it. You get the idea. Now after many years away from the bp hand guns I am back. About 30 hrs of cleaning and fitting a new hand from Dixie, I am ready to test fire tomorrow. I know that this revolver isn't worth the price of the new hand, or the hours it took to get it running, but what the heck, it's winter in South Dakota and there isn't much else to do. Thanks for putting up with my ramblings. Good shooting to all.

When you receive 100% enjoyment and the feeling of accomplishment then the dollar value goes out the window. In my younger days my pleasure was taking a vehicle and making what is viewed by most as a waste of time and money into a working and decent looking car. Bringing a firearm back to functional state is in of itself worth all the cut fingers, money that you should have spent somewhere else worth it all. I am glad to see that you just didn't chunk it saying its not worth it. Enjoy

Now that I've got the old junker running I may not have time to spend on the keyboard, rather I will be making smoke n smiles. But just maybe a range report or two :)

Sorry J-Bar, no range report today. Went to a gun show instead. Now I have a few more to get up and running. Belgium made colt Army, Le Mate, & Pedersoli Kentucky pistol. I've never seen a Belgium made replica. Seems to be very high quality. Hope it shoots a good as it looks.

You are lucky. The Belgian Colt Army is indeed a high quality replica. It's known as a 1960 New Model Army (the 1960 is not a typo). I own two of them and both are superb replicas. There is a collector's club (Friends of the Centaure Society, or FROCS) that would very much like to have the details of your gun. Go to the following web site, download the questionnaire and send it in. They'll be very grateful.
