Hi all
I recently acquired a model 67-1 4" ser# AHY71**. Grips are not #'d to gun but at least are wood!;) Has DPR on left side of frame. Would appreciate if someone could tell me her date of manufacture and what DPR stands for. Locks up tight and no fore-aft play. The b-c gap is .005 all the way around. Interestingly the rear sight is cranked all the way to right. Will leave it until I shoot it tomorrow(today) to see what gives. Gave a good washing and light oiling. Shooting 158gr jckd and 130gr jckd. Look forward to tomorrow(today). Hope to have some photos both of the 67 and the initial range results too. No matter what I try I always seem to end up back with a K frame. :D

Hey Jake,

There's a sticky above for S&W DOB requests, but no harm. I know this one as I have two AH-xxxx guns and both of them are 1985.

"DPR" is most likely some issuing agency that bought it new then issued it as a sidearm to employees. Could be a state agency somewhere, or a county or even city one - if that guess is accurate. Unless the dealer tells you what agency they bought them from, it's hard to tell for certain unless the name or initials are unique or fully spelled out.

Hi Oro,
Thanks for the reply. I had also placed in the sticky but expanded here. I was afraid about the initials. Could congour up all sorts of great and offbeat departments my M67 had been a part of (I am a real Walter Mitty) but probably just a mundane municipal department where she faithfully served an LEO possibly saving a life once or twice!;). Off to the range to see how she performs. Results later. Thanks again

Very nice!

K-frames are "just right" in so many ways. I have a few myself and can't decide which one I like best.

Ahhh, very nice!

I like the adjustable sight .38 K-Frames so much that I own 2 blued-finish brothers to the Model 67, the Model 15 (a 2" and a 4"). Both are known as the Combat Masterpiece, an appropriate name if you ask me. Wonderful balance and pointability, the .38 round will get the job done with the right ammo and recoil is pretty mild, making for quick/easy follow up shots.

An excellent plinker, home defense, car or concealed carry gun, IMO.

Just curious, do you have any specific use planned for your 67 (ie, concealed carry)?

Hi Jad0110
I got this Model 67 primarily for range and home self defense. She is more accurate than I am so no problem working :D into good form. Just happen to find some decent looking grips on Hogue auction as seconds so will see how they look and feel. Have the single finger groove and are fairly dark with good grain. The M67 feels very comfortable in hand points quite easily. Does not appear to have been shot too much, ring is light, lock up is tight and no apparent fore-aft movement. Timing appears good and B-C gap is .005 all the way around. Back sight seemed a bit funky. Was all the way to right, down tight and a small chip out of left end. Think I resolved those issues. Hope to get some more bullets down range Tues or Wed. Really need to shake off the rust on the Lee Turret.

Hi all
Have found that the Aguila 158gr sjhp are very accurate. just put a set of Hogue wood grips on her that were 2nds and will have some pics up tomorrow. They look good and help with the hold. Gotta run

Great picture and great revolver. You have the Stainless Steel version of the Combat Masterpiece. Target version of the model 64. Best shooting 38 special revolver ever. Here is my 1951 product pre-15 Combat Masterpiece.
Good luck with your new revolver,
