Just cleared into the Bahamas today. Posted outside the customs office was a new sign, stating new rules for quantity of firearms allowed to be imported: three firearms and 175 rounds per arm. No quantities were ever specified before and it's not published anyplace. Open boats (center console types) must leave arms with customs (returned upon departure) as they cannot be secured in a secure compartment. On a larger boat its ok. And noted that maximum bite size is "three hundred and eight calibers". I'm guessing max bore size of .308 is the intent. No real hassle, just don't bring more than three

It's the 175 rds per that's weak. I only need! three arms... but I want at least 500 rds per day, per, and that's just for one week's vacation. Target range tactical class vacation, that is.

Ahhh... the illustrious Sutton, and in the Bahamas. You remind me of Connery's Bond.

Hee!

I would love to live in the Turks and Caicos islands but I was told there was a "no gun" law there. The climate and tax policies are great but no guns is a deal breaker for me.......

This is pic of the new policy I saw for boaters. I have a center console boat which apparently means I have to turn my weapons over to customs for my stay which defeats the purpose for bringing it in the first place.

This notice allows 250 rounds per gun.

^^ This is the same poster they have here (I'm in Bimini), and my error... it' is 250 rounds per gun for ammo.

The customs guy actually walked outside to look at my boat to see if it was a center console type and explained why. Truthfully though I think it's pretty much "don't ask, don't tell" here. Customs seems like they just want to stamp the papers and collect the $300 crusing permit fee.
