Bass Pro Shop/Cabela's

I just checked the website before your post and ordered it! Glad to see others are looking as well. Thanks for the back check, sir.

I was hoping to see it at $200 (as opposed to the standard $250 price) and this is great at $180 with free shipping (still had to pay $14.40 sales tax, but the gummint always takes its share). Still under the $200 mark, and that was what I was looking for.

Now I can complete my Pietta 1851 Navy .36 progression to include a Second Model (SB TG), a Third Model (RB TG), a S&G, a L&R, a G&G, and my favorite fantasy 1851: SB TG, steel frame, part octagon/part round barrel, plain cylinder (Colt should have produced this as the 1851 Navy .36 Dragoon), in addition to many other fantasy concoctions.

It took 3 years on my meager SS income. The 2014 [CM] SB is a "tail" revolver (but will be a collector's item from now on) with the other two pistols having the "new" Pietta grip profile (date code CN and CP).

When I get the wedge fitted correctly to the barrel on the new pistol (and Guido the Gorilla most certainly has pounded the wedge into barrel lug, as always) I will post pics of all my Pietta variations.

For now, just awaiting Mr. Brown.

Make sure you go all the way to the bottom of the BP revolver page at Cabela's.

They have new toys!!!

Better stock up on those BP shootin irons while you can from Cabelas. Bass Pro typically sells only a couple of redi pak Tradition Piettas, a few Uberti cowboy cartridge revolvers, and zip Uberti bp revolvers.

I live 2 miles from the fabulous Buda, Tx Cabelas, a true tourist destination. Bass Pro Shops built a store in Round Rock a year or two ago, maybe 30 miles north. I was not impressed.

A sad day indeed, since they will likely close the Buda store with all its beautiful taxidermy and aquarium displays. I take my young grandkids there at least once per month.

Cabela's points aren't going away.

From another article I read about the buyout of Cabela's, it states that Bass Pro is planning to keep the Cabela's stores and most employees.

Fingers crossed, here...

As part of the buyout, Bass Pro Shops is taking over Cabela’s credit card business in a partnership with Capital One (COF). Loyalty programs at both retailers will remain in place. Bass Pro Shops will honor customer rewards under the Cabela’s CLUB program.

Companies always say that. Watch for them to consolidate back office functions first, con accounting, HR, etc, and laying people off. Then start looking to closing stores where there is overlap.

I was sort of glad this morning to see the .36 steel frame 1851 back up to the regular price of $250.
I was dangerously close to spending a couple gift cards and coupon on it, even though I really don't need it.

Malachi,

I took the plunge and at the $180 price I could not go wrong since it fit into my plans, even if I had to put it on the credit card and give Momma (the banker) all of my extra stashed bucks and minor gift cards. :uhoh: I am only $20 shy of paying it down. :D

Not a bad price at all. Dixie and others want more than $250 for the same item.

YMMV.

The large stores and taxidermy were ripoffs of Bass Pros big store in Springfield...I expect they will stay as they are...I have always liked Bass Pro....I was a kid when they opened their first store in an old Brown Derby liquor store back in the 70s.

Prices for BP guns will never be as cheap again at Cabela's prices today. It is a swansong and this will be the last. Just look at Bass Pro's prices. I have never bought anything from them in the entire time they have been in business as their prices have always been high and the shipping they bend you over on. Stopped looking years ago to buy anything from them. I have been buying from Acadamy of all places lately for ammo as the offer free shipping with decent prices and availability. Without Cabelas in the mix look for prices to rise for all the retailers as there is no competition offering lower prices and nobody else has deep pockets to adsorb cost or loss leader sales. By next Christmas you will be paying $250-300.00 for a brass frame revolver and the steel framed ones starting at $325.00 of any kind. Will have to check in next Christmas to see how true my prediction is.
